I hope this is the right forum for this question or questions. I really like and have one model 66 no dash and wouldn't mind another one. Does anyone share my thoughts on this gun and can you share with me any thing you have learned about this particular gun. I wouldn't mind finding a S&W box and papers on this gun. Does anyone have any suggestions where I should start looking. I'm a "newbie" here so I need all the help you can give me. Thanks:)

Welcome to the forum. I too have a 2.5 66 no dash that I love. Do a search on this forum, and prepair to spend a couple of days being educated by all the threads. Good luck, and enjoy!

Yup...lots of great info here.

The bottom line is basically this:

K-Frame snubbies frikkin' RULE!!!!!
:)

Welcome to the forum!

+1 on what he said - K frame snubbies are da' bomb - or whatever it is kids say these days.

I have a 66-4 in 2.5".

He's just looking for a box. A NIB 66 no dash would be nearly impossible to find, and if you did, $1K wouldn't come anywhere near what it would sell for.

Does anybody know the starting serial of the 66 no dash?

NM

Found the answer: The first run of the Model 66 was in 1970 in the K949xxx range but it seems production didn't really get going until 2K5xxxx.

Talking about 66 no dashes.....here is my 4" with SS sights. Unfired NIB (no kidding).

You know, if you find an unfired 3" 66 no dash, even if you would only have the two, you would have one of the most envied collections there is!

$1000? That's a 'BIT' high even for this area. $750-$850 is pretty much the market.

Heck for a Grand I will sell you a 3"

I don't think they are nearly that rare. Hard to find maybe, but I know where this one is, and where at least two more are. None of them are for sale. I would bet that $750-$800 would start bringing them out, though.

A 66 2 1/2 in gun rides with me in the car every day, wherever I go. Safely tucked into a pouch under the front edge of the driver's seat. I'm a banker and knew I had to have one when I saw a Treasury Agent at our bank one day, wearing a belt and suspenders, to hold up his 66 snubbie. I have a grip adapter on it too, old school style.

Well I'm not afraid to admitt that I'm wrong. I've never seen a brand new 66 no dash. If I owned one, I wouldn't let it go for less then $1K, even if I needed the money.
