Hints of new M&Ps pistols coming...

The M&P,unlike the Glock, was originally designed as a .40 and they did a good job with that. There are however some problems with early unlocking with at least the full size 9mm's.
Accuracy also seems to be more erratic with the 9mm's than the 40's or 45's. If they address these issues properly and correct them then I am all for expanding the choices in this model. I would like to see a 9mm the same size as the 45c with 15 rd.capacity.
QC with a lot of companies has become a pain for LE as well as civilian shooters.Glock is a prime example. The redesign of their gen 4's has caused major headaches, they are well documented, and though Glock keeps coming with solutions for these issues, they still fail to publicly acknowledge the engineering screw ups in their rush to bring the Gen 4's to market, and even late prodiction gen 3's have the extractor issues with the dipped MIM extractors.
These companies want to flood the market with their products but seem to care little about maintaining an overall reputation for quality control and out of the box reliability.

The time is right for an American company to step up to the plate and produce high quality handguns that don't have to be sent back for correction of issues that should not have occured with a new gun. If Smith& Wesson will do this, and not rush new products onto the market without proper vetting of the gun design to begin with, and give the shooting public and Law Enforcement what they want, then they can be Kings again in Law Enforcement and with the general shooting public.

10mm haters can all keep up their talk.

I'm next in line for an M&P10.

I also agree with a midsize frame similar to the Glock 19. But then I also think they need slim single stack versions of the mid and compact size frames.

I would be more than happy to see S&W spend a little more time producing what they already advertise. Shortages of 1911s and the M&P Pros is common with distributors. It does not matter how much they advertise if the dealers such as myself cannot have the product on the shelf to sell.

I have three M&Ps, a FS9, 9c and a 40c. I wouldn't trade one for three Glocks if I had to carry it. Glock is the most over rated and M&P is the most under rated gun on the market. I can put 50 rounds into one big ragged hole the size of my fist from ranges from 5 to 25 yards with my 9FS. Don't know about you but that is plenty accurate for me. As for a new gun a single stack 9 and 40 would be nice. Frankly, S&W needs to have some guns out there and available at good prices. Why should a Glock sell at less than an M&P? Sigmas ought to be discontinued, now! SDs should be reduced in price as well as M&Ps. Want to sell a bunch of guns? Offer a senior discount equal to the LE and military discount. Make people proud of made in America. Who says a M&P9c isn't the G19 size?

Purple? Sounds plum loco to me.

The dealer I bought my M&P9c from routinely lists the 9/40 M&Ps for $399.98, and these are the "LE/First Responder" packages with three mags. When I asked about his prices compared to the other local dealers who are still listing them for $569+, he said S&W had a major price shift quite a while ago but most dealers are still listing their guns at the old price because people are still willing to pay it. The retail price should be comparable to Glock retail pricing.

I believe he's also getting a better deal because he's a S&W LE distributor and buys way more guns from S&W than most other dealers around here, but $150+ cheaper?

I bought an SD9, the whole kit, love the dependability but the size is a bit large for CC. Wish I'd gotten the M&Pc 9, maybe this new batch will have something for me.

That's a really good price! $100 more is what they are going for a the local place and that the plain 9/40. I look on S&W's website and they still have $569 as their list price. CDNN's $425 deal almost got me to buy one. I think if I saw a new one in the store for $400 it would be hard for me to pass up.

I would like to see a single stack 45ACP to compete with the Glock 36.

...and take 1911 magazines. Why reinvent the wheel?

Ditto on a super compact 9 or 40 to compete with Ruger, Kahr, etc.

A crisp trigger just like the one FN is installing in their new LE market sriker fired pistols. I was impressed dry firing, but haven't had the chance to fire one with live rounds as of yet.

It's because of the price the dealer had to pay when he bought it. There is a little basement shop not far from here who "got stuck" with a bunch of M&P's he bought from S&W. When they announced the price drop, if he were to sell them at that price he would take a loss. As a result, people go to the Big Box and buy them.
Little Local Guy feels like he was thrown under the bus and swore he would never stock another new Smith. And he hasn't. Sells a boatload of Taurus and Glock, though...

New M&P

I would buy a 10mm longslide version (or any M&P in 10mm) and a .45 Pro model in a second.

10mm dead?? Nobody told me. Guess i will have to get riid of my Glock 29. Its the most versatile pistol cartridge ever developed.

This video was posted by S&W, something M&P related is coming with the announcement on April 12th at the National Rifle Association Annual Meeting.

From the video, we can deduce that the gun will be aimed at the concealed carry market as the video hits on fears of criminal victimization and not police or military action. Also note that the final frames show both the Smith & Wesson and M&P logos. My guess is a thin, single stack .40 S&W pistol in the M&P line.

Shoot fuzzy, the video tells me nothing. I'm planning on going to the NRA convention. Guess I'll have to wait until then to know what it is.

Like I said earlier, I'd buy a 10mm the minute it hit the dealer shelves.

When watching Top Guns last night, the show made be a little upset. S&W makes a .45 ACP revolver and a 9mm 1911! You can't tell me a 10mm M&P wouldn't sell at least as many as those models.

My guess is a new generation of M&P pistols, same calibers and sizing. Just a guess. The video did tease pretty heavy. And with the talk about Apex teaming up with Smith and Wesson, it does make a guy wonder. Damn tease.

As it happens, I'll be part of group tour at the factory on April 12. Maybe we'll get a sneak peak and if we're really lucky maybe there'll be one at the Shooting Sports Center.

Factory tours are one of the few advantages to living in MA.
