Hi

I had a couple of guns that were looking a little shabby. A 1972 built Smith & Wesson Model 27-2 and a 1963 built Colt Python 4". The Smith had thining blue and significant holster wear and the Python had been butchered by th eprevious owner who allowed a "gunsmith" to lengthen the (already legal) barrel. It had a 5mm ring soldered to the end and was never reblued.

I love both the guns and seeing as there was no collector value in either in the condition they were in I decided to get them refinished. The best bloke around to do the job was Rob Blomfield on the Sunshine Coast so I left the guns with him late last year.

I picked them up last weekend but only got a chance to take a couple of decent pics today. They are both reblued and have new American Elk antler grips made by Patrick Grashorn in the USA.

Ok...so they are not factory original anymore but now I have a couple of almost original custom beauties. The blue job I requested was "to the original factory standard" and I certainly got that!

Here are a couple of pics below

Hell yeah...here is a close up of the bluing on the barrel. The muzzle has been recrowned as well since it was bretty butchered..looks like it came from the factory.. Not bad for a 49 year old gun :)

Beautiful reblue on both guns! And Grashorns look perfect on them. I have a 1968 Python with blueing wear on both sides of the muzzle and a little on the cylinder that I have been considering having reblued. I see this as a vote in that direction!

Beautiful revolvers made better by very professional rebluing. Great!

Thanks for all the replies!

I know there are some very strong feelings out there relating the "To refinish or Not to refinish" question. So I am very happy with the responses here!

These two guns had no collector value as they were and I don't believe this has hurt them at all. :)

Thanks once again!

Mike, If you had'nt first mentioned them being re-blued
i honestly could'nt have told the difference. I would not hesitate a second to buy a gun that had been given this kind of treatment. Outstanding again my friend !!!

Hi:
Beautiful Revolvers.
Question: Are private citizens allowed to own firearms again in your Country?
Jimmy

I was wondering the same thing. A couple of my friends live Down Under and they say they cannot own firearms due to the laws there.
