Sticky: RULES - General Posting Rules

Politics is a banned topic on this board.
It's a simple rule- We don't talk politics here.
Is there some word there that is not clear?

I'm assuming you folks own real guns. That would seem to imply that you have enough self control to limit your actions.

For at least the next year, there will be no "Reminders" given that politics is a Banned Topic on this board if you have ever had a Reminder for politics issued.

A Point will be issued for any political discussion/remark/commentary after the first Reminder.
3rd offense will earn two points, which gets you 3 days off.
Frequent violators will get at least 30 days off, or may be banned, solely at our discretion.

I would say that is probably an excellent idea. My grandfather used to say, "never talk politics or religion with friends." Maybe this way we can all stay friends.:)

I'm with you 1000% on this one. I was a long time member of a Harley board, but finally quit going there because of the b.s. I have a number of really good friends on that board.

I've been to other sites that are totally uncivilized, this is the best forum on the internet. I agree, the topic is not needed here, make friends not enemies.

Where else but a gun forum can I troll and start so much trouble so fast?

Thats one of the rules for staying on the forum. We don't need to do any soul searching to determine if we like the rule or not. Abide by this rule or come to grief. It's as simple as that. And it sounds like the only reminder anyone is going to get was given this morning to the entire forum and that ANY political discussion will have consequences. i hope everyone will take heed to this. If not; well it's been nice knowing you. Most of you anyway :p

I've been nailed over this more times than I can count on this forum, but I'm so burnt out over the subject now that I avoid the news and watch the western channel or the mexican channels even though I can barely figure out what they are saying. My mex./amer. wife has to interpret for me. It's just much more relaxing looking at cute latin women I can't understand than getting bummed out and mad watching political stuff. And it keeps me from getting in trouble here.

Trouble for who; yourself or the forum? :)

I dunno how you might start trouble for the forum but you could start trouble for yourself by playing with old dynamite, playing Russian Roulette, or trying to play pin the tail with an 800 lb. grille'r that isn't in a playful mood ;)

I would just like to add that having a few drinks does not help one to relax and avoid the topic if provoked...

Thank you Lee! I work part time at a firearms retailer and it seems that many of the customers walk in the door and want to immediately launch into a political tirade or discussion, and to be honest, I find it very tiring. If I agree with you you are preaching to the choir, if I don't the chances of you changing my views are slim to none so why waste your breath. I would much prefer talking guns or good gossip. I have always believed that your opinion is no less valuable than mine so how about we both respect each other even if we disagree. I have strong opinions and act upon them in the most appropriate manner, by voting for, supporting or expressing my views to those who actually can influence the decisions to be made. I love this forum and the no politics rules is perhaps the best ever instituted on this forum. Being an English Canadian I may feel the need to jab the French on occasion though so mea culpa in advance.

The no politics rule is the reason why this is my favorite firearms forum. Im a member a bunch of others that have the same rule, but it is not enforced to say the least. The only thing that could make this any better is if we were allowed to swear. ;)

We're allowed to swear-we just can't use certain words ;)
