I was scanning the local PD car to car channel as I was working today when I heard an out of breath officer apparently engaged in a foot chase. He was directing other officers to areas where they could block off an escape. I was a long way off and was only getting bits and pieces of what was going on. I heard a friend of mine, a ranking officer calling for dogs and crime scene officers. I decided to head in that general direction in case they needed help but before I got too close I heard them radio that a suspect was in custody. From what I heard on the radio the apprehension was a very good piece of police work

I don't know everything yet, even though I probably will by tomorrow. Here's what I do know: Shortly after 3:00 p.m. a man entered Cuco's Mexican restaurant and started shooting. Five people were hit with two or more in critical condition. There may be a fatality, that's not clear yet. Right now there's no known motive and very few other details. we just had one here in Oakland today at a Christian school seven people were fatally shot yes the lunies are comming OUT of the woodwork:mad

We had a strange one here locally. A guy I used to work with back in the late 90's but who couldn't seem to get his act together was in a bar at about 4am and was caught in the back of the bar engaging in vertical activity that is best performed horizontally if you get the drift. Well, the bartender and bouncer toss him, but on the way out the door he grabs ahold of the bar tender and bites off his pinky finger. I guess they were able to reattach it but he is looking at something like seven years in state prison for felony assault.

You guys keep it safe out there, but it may be getting tougher and tougher to do with the recession and drug nuts running loose.
The job you do is a Great but Difficult public service.

They released the guy's name. I know who he is as does most everybody else around here. He's sort of a left wing nut job. He was at the hoodie demonstration last week and he and one other guy was our local Occupy Wall St. protesters. He frequently writes liberal leaning letters to the local paper.

Funny isn't that it is usually the lefties snapping and advancing the violence. Yet the other side of the coin is labeled as the extremist!!!
What gives?

And now our liberal government has yet another reason to take the guns away from the sane people and leave them further unprotected from this madness.

Was this a place where guns are NOT permitted?
Just wondering.

That's a bold statement. Got any evidence?

I can only think of three off the top of my head, including this guy, the nut job that shot at the White House, and the nut job that shot Gabrielle Giffords. Most of the time, though, regardless of the politics of the idiot shooting these are not politically motivated.

There is no political monopoly on nutjobs, although I do think it is often claimed to exist. Since you never know when one might pop out of the woodwork, best keep your powder dry. Always.

As Jimmy Durante once said "Everybody wants ta get inta the act!"

Nut cakes are everywhere, come in different sizes, colors, professions, the list just goes on and on. Sadly

Thought the lefties didn't believe in guns...

Meh... I was a borderline hippie when I was younger.

Dig it!

I think I was more like a Beatnik:cool: than a hippie:p for a while, or at least up until the 60's and 70's. Played a lot of music in bar bands, drank some, and blah, blah, blah:o, but I always loved guns and hunting and shooting. I still love guns and shooting.
It does seem that the real nut jobs are starting to appear more frequently and with more mindless violence. That is why I think it is a good Idea to practice, not only your marksmanship and tactics, but also your situational awareness skills.
For you LEOS, be careful and thank you for lookin' out for us.:)
Peace,
