Hi
Anybody concealed carrying a Model 60?
3 inch?
2 1/8 inch?
What IBW holster are you using?

Any disadvantages to carrying the 60?

Thanks
Marty

It's not a Model 60 but I recently began carrying a Model 36 with a 1 7/8's barrel in a Bianchi 3s IWB size 01. Very comfortable and affordable off of ebay. Less than $30 including shipping for an almost brand new holster.
I like the weight reduction from my previous carry a Model 39-2, the easier concealability and the knowledge that if I do my part the 36 will function reliably. The only negative I can think of is the feeling of carrying not enough ammunition: 5 round capacity and two 5 round speed strips since I was used to carrying 9 in the 39-2 with 2 nine round magazines on my belt. With time I think I can get over this.

I bought a 60-4 (.38 spl.) about a decade ago. The 3"/heavy barrel configuration makes it seem like a bigger gun in the hand, but it hides very easily. I liked it so much I recently found a LNIB 36-1 (again, 3"/heavy barrel, only in blue) for my wife. Even +P stuff feels mild with the extra mass. J frames are certainly easier to hide well and I don't think I give up much on "shootability" with 3"/heavy barrel guns.

60PRO is nice (a 3"), the wood grips that are specific to it and very nice looking are about 5/8" longer than a boot grip and really feels great in your hand. S&W has a nice belt holster with S&W stamp on it. (right or left hand available).

I purchased another set of PRO grips from S&W to put on my Model 63 22LR and the two together look really marvelous. They were on about $45 plus shipping.

I have been carrying a model 60 pro for a couple years daily. I wear it outside the waist band in a pancake style holster that I made for it. It hides exceptionally well. The model 60 is generally a fantastic carry gun. It is a perfect balance I think with the 3 inch barrel. My example is very controllable with full house .357 Magnum loads, and down right fun with some Hot Rod .38's. It is nasty accurate as well. I keep it loaded with Hornaday Critical Defense .38's

I've carried my 1 7/8" 60-7 pretty regularly for a few years, now. I generally carry it in my pocket, in a Kramer holster. I have a Tucker Cover-up for it, but haven't used it much.

The only downside is that it is a bit heavy for pocket carry, but apparently it works for jlanecole so it may work for you as well. I like the M&P 340 for that role, but also own the 640, just not a pocket gun for me.

I've carried a M632-1, which is basically a 3" Model 60, only chambered for .327 Fed Mag.

Due to a bad back I carried mine in a Mernickle PS10DA Cross Draw Holster.

Model 60-7 2" RB in a Kramer Horsehide Belt Scabbard. Buffalo Bore +P 158 grain HEAVY load. Once in a while I pocket carry in a DeSantis Nemesis holster.

My model 60 is one of my most versatile carry guns. I mostly use a Galco pocket holster. I have a Bianchi Shadow, a Galco iwb "tuckable", and an old Heiser owb "Threeperson strap". I seldom leave home without it.

i carry a model 60 in a milt sparks pmk owb holster, hardly know its there,i like the combination for comfort and looks. Will sometimes throw in my 640 or 649 to mix things up,they all are great shooters.

Regularly tote a Model 60, NY-1.

Use Remora, Galco, and Active Pro-Gear IWB's. One Galco and the APG are j-hook holsters. As with the Remora, they are very concealable.

Be safe.

Me too, in a Remora :D

The mod 60 with a 3in. barrel is one of my favorite carry guns. I love the balance and longer sight radius. I do both IWB Galco USA and OWB with a Don Hume JIT or a Roy Baker original pancake style. I think the Mod 60 is a little heavy for pocket work, for that I use the S&W 638.

I've carried a 60 no dash and a 60-7, both with 1 7/8" bbls for several years now. According to Smith & Wesson reference tables, the 60-7 is able to handle the +P loads. I recently acquired a 60-9 with a 2 1/8" bbl in .357, which I will load with the +P loads as well. I've been carrying in my back jeans pocket, which isn't the best idea but it has certainly been serviceable. I got an Uncle Mike's pocket holster with the -9, which I have been using for the -7. I want to upgrade the pocket holster, although the Uncle Mike's has been fine.

Blessings,
Hog

If you are going to carry your model 60 inside waistband I suggest
you take off the hammer spur.
Here is mine in an Alessi Hard Shell Talon.
Lou made it and he has passed away, but I understand that
his family is carrying on.

I carry a 36 1 7/8 AIWB in a leather clip on Holster and a 442 in a Uncle Mike's pocket Holster. The advantage of the 60 is more rust resistant than the 36 and more weight for Recoil control than the 442.
