And the winner is... M&P9c! But now, a couple more questions...

Hey guys.

I went to the range this weekend and checked out the M&P40c, Glock 26 & Glock 19 (they didn't have a 9c although I have fired it a few times before and the 40 is close enough). Anyway, I was already leaning toward the M&P and what pushed me over is that I find the Glock trigger pull to be a bit long.

Ok, so now I'm wondering if I should get my 9c with a thumb safety or not. If I understand correctly I can't add it later but I can have it removed if I want. Would this leave holes/marks in my gun or otherwise look funny? Or would it look like a gun that had no thumb safety in the first place?

My limited experience with other Striker Fired guns is that none of them had thumb safeties. Would having one cause me to "get confused"? That's probably not coming out right but you probably know what I mean.

Also, I see that the local stores here are pretty close to MSRP. Is that typical or should I expect a deal?

Thanks!

I would skip the manual safety, but its just personal preference. As far as pricing goes, I get them for $400 with the S&W discount and I have no idea of what they go for off the shelf.

S&W discount eh? You work for them?

MSRP is $569 for SKU 209304. The gun shop I went to on Sunday advertises $549.99.

I picked up a 9c a few weeks ago for $490 with a 12 shot magazine and a 17 shot magazine. This was at a local GS.

m&p9c

s&w offers some polymer plugs to fill it the safety holes, i have one with the safety removed and plugs put in can't hardly see them.

The manual safety yea or nay is up to you; I have 4 M&Ps and 3 have the thumb safety and one does not. I started shooting 1911's and moved to Glocks and would still unconsciously sweep my thumb down during the grip to flick it 'off'. I still do that when I shoot my M&P9 Pro since it doesn't have the TS but my 3 others do. It's just a matter of practicing with it and making it part of the draw and presentation of the gun when shooting. The thumb safety is probably more of a thumb rest when it's all said and done but I do like the added safe value of having it.

As far as price...well, what is it worth to you? I traded for mine and maybe I gave more than what I should but I knew how much I liked the gun and how much I wanted the gun...so I paid just the right amount to walk out the door with it. :D

Picked mine up at Jet Guns on the internet for $439 shipped, about 6 months ago.

Got my 9c today at PSA for $469. It has a better trigger than my fullsize MP45 or fullsize 9.

I put 50 flawless rounds down range and can't wait to do more!

Thanks for all your replies.

I went to Jet Guns website to check it out and they do have some awesome prices! But I don't really quite understand how I can order from them. It looks like I'd have to go to a local gun shop and have them order it for me? How would that work? Oh please, order this gun for me that's $100 less than you'd like to charge me.

But seriously, could someone explain that?

Ok, so I checked this out and it's a total scam! Well, at least where I am. Sure, the local dealers will do an FFL transfer for a fee. One that inflates the cost to basically what they are charging for the gun. I'd only save like $10-$12 overall. So yea, might as well get the gun locally.

There may actually be a guy or two in your area that just does transfers. I buy from Bud's Gun Shop online and they have a listing of FFLs that they ship to, one might be in you area and they tend to only charge $20 or so for the paperwork...might be worth checking into.

At any rate, the 9c is a phenomenal gun and worth every penny! Be sure to let us know what you end up with and give us a pic or two when you get her home!

I don't know where you're at but getting a gun shipped and buying right from the store is sometimes a big difference and sometimes not. It usually ends up saving $20-$30 plus tax which, at 5.5%, adds up.

If the difference is not that great, I pay the extra money. There is something to be said about holding the actual gun in your hands before buying it. And I like supporting local businesses.

Both the 9C and 357 SIG Compact are great guns.

Equally as reliable/durable as any CZ or Glock in my eyes.

I'm giddy as a schoolgirl to pick up my SHIELD on Friday..

I might try out and buy the M&P 357 FS and 45C or FS by the World Series.

Even though I still love my CZs, the M&P addiction set upon me
some time ago.

Have fun with that new 9mm!
