3913/3914 extended magazine release

I'm right-handed, use the "thumbs forward" two hand hold. My right thumb is too short to operate the mag release without major grip shifting. I can do it with my left hand but that's real awkward for mag changes.

I know Ed Brown made these years ago, discontinued them, and sold the remaining stock to Brownells. Brownells no longer has any. I've been searching high and low for one. Hit some of the gun parts websites but no luck.

Any advice/ideas/suggestions appreciated.

Hello OneMini, I have a 3913 I use for CC. I would not want an extended mag release unless I were shooing one of these little guns in competition, but perhaps you are. I will just throw this out for your consideration. In the classes I attended at Gunsite, we were taught to shift the pistol slightly in the hand to reach the magazine release. With practice this became second nature. They taught that one of the advantages of this technique is that it requires that the trigger finger to be safely out of the trigger guard during the reload. I own several different types of pistols. I don't think I can comfortably reach the mag release on any of them without shifting my grip...

I understand the logic of the Gunsite method. In fact I do that with my 1911 and Hi-Power. But for some reason (the button is shorter? grip configuration?) it takes more of shift than I'm comfortable with on the S&W to release the mag with my right thumb.

At one time, I held a 6906 with the Hogue rubber grips, in consideration of putting them on my model, and found that though they were nice when shooting, they were fatter and changed the "geometry" of the fit in my hand. I have the factory grips. Hogues work for me on revolvers, but they're way too fat for me on semis.
