Goodbye Glocks!

When I bought my Sigma 9VE (awesome), I sold half of my Glocks. Got an M&P9 two days ago after hesitating for 2 years. Have put 500 rounds (WWB, Magtech, Fed Eagle) thru it flawlessly with great accuracy and comfort so...the rest of my Glocks go! BUY THIS GUN! Got the kit with Bladetech holster and mag pouch etc. I know it sounds "UnAmerican" (weird) not to worship Glocks, but I am an "old (key word) 1911 shooter" and this gun is dead on! I have owned about 120 handguns including 12 Glocks and two XD's. It's regrettable some guys are having problems posted here and I hope they resolve. I am buying a Shield 9m and M&P 40 (for IPSC major) as soon as I can and not looking back.
PS:My Glocks had no problems, to be fair. I just couldn't get comfortable with them. See my 2010 post "Sigma, what's the truth?" (25,000 hits!)

I was the same way as you. I avoided the M&P9 for about two years. I didn't think it could be that different from a Glock, and I was wrong.

So... If you could never get comfortable with them, why did you buy more than 1?

Good point. I bought and sold them on a whim. The biggest thing that kept drawing me back was the weight and they are SO POPULAR, you sort of ask yourself "what's wrong with me"? So, I tried different sizes and different calibers. My focus is primarily a carry gun, thus having owned three G19's, three G23's, one G26, one G30 and assorted 17's and 22's and a 34 over the last 15 yrs or so.
All were part of a rotation with Colt's, Sigs, HK, Kimbers, S&W ,Beretta's, revolvers etc.
Of the "polymer, stryker fired" variety, this M&P seems to be the best (for me anyway).

I just got a M&P 45 and absolutly love it, put 150 rounds of cheap range rounds thru it friday, worked perfect

I went the other direction. I got my m&p 9fs as my first striker fired polymer gun. I hear and read so many great things about the glocks that finally I broke down and bought a 19. The glock just feels too fat in my hands I can't find a good placement for my thumbs but the m&p feels great.

I agree. I had Glocks first, and I never had a problem with the Glock grips until I got my M&PC.

After handling my M&PC, I just can't get used to the feel of my new Glock 19 FDE.

The Glock feels like I'm holding a 2X4, so I think I am going to sell it, and use the money for a Viridian C5L, and more ammo.

Gen 4 specifically because its smaller than the gen 3s.

Heck of a guy! Jimmy's friendship is not cheap!

Seriously, you don't have to ask yourself, "What's wrong with me?" (on the Glocks). They are good, reliable guns and will do the job assigned. But if something better for you comes along, why not go with it? Glocks don't walk on the water. It's an older design, and it is only natural that more recent products will seek to improve on any short-comings. Whether the newer designs do that or not, the buyer can judge.

At some point (and I am wondering when), you would think Glock would offer an alternative to their present "ergonomics." It seems like it would be in their interest to do so, but I suppose they would take the approach that, if they did, it would be admitting their original product was less than "perfection." Kind of tough to use that word and live up to it.

As a 1911 guy, I've always thought of the M&P as a better Glock than the Glock. The M&P series has ergonomics and elegance that the Glock can't touch, but what the heck, it is a 35 year newer design.

Another former Glock owner here...I owned a Glock of some sort for the last 15 years. Nothing wrong with them, and they all shot great. I was living a tranquil life until my wife got an M&P9c a couple of months ago. Then I handled it, and then shot it!! Haven't been the same since. Had to trade my 19 for a 9c, and love it. Of course I used the excuse that it gets along so well with my M&P340....

Yup well I am old 1911 guy also. At first I thought I had the ultimate pistol with the striker fired M&P. However, I will keep my Glocks. First, the Glock has a trigger reset I can feel making it easier for me to manage the trigger. The Smith does not have this distinctive reset. Second, my S&W 40 cal M&P is on its way back to Smith for the fourth time.
