I went out and bought a shield 9, 4 weeks ago.I didnt want just any holster because I needed a not good but a GREAT, IWB for the Hot Memphis summer that is among us.This shield has a job to be my new summer carry and the holster had to meet the standards of being comfortable and light weight.I factored in protection for the guns finish and while I was at it decided that the holster had to look the part and make a statement, as a home for the Shield since the shield has built such a wonderful reputation in such a short time.I researched reviews and holsters for 3 weeks prior to my shield purchase and decided to buy from Garrett Industries LLC.

I purchased the Silent Thunder Solo in OD green with natural Hermann Oak Leather Lining which has a wonderful smell. The rear panel is flexible and covered out toward the body in a medium density water proof foam which is covered by a suede pig skin that is a pleasure against the skin and holds the holster in place like glue.I ordered the tuckable loops but also have the standard clip which I use, enjoy and it works well. These pictures do not do it justice. Its ART!

It looks very good. Is it a hybrid?

CA357,
I had always thought of hybrid as being kydex mounted to a leather backing and this one is not listed as a hybrid according to Garrett. Its Kydex has the leather bonded to it for a no noise draw and holster and the Kydex is actually stitched to a rear panel that has a layer of the leather, the the foam, then the pig suede.I asked Ron Garrett about the process and its a secret how he bonds the Hermann Oak Leather to the kydex in such an amazing way.Worth the $85.00 it cost me.

That's some sweet-lookin' gun hide. Too bad it's beauty has to be hidden IWB.

H & D,

You are correct. It is hidden and wants to be shown off but I am buying a full size M&P 9mm and ordering the STX OWB for it.Im going to add a few more pictures so you all can see the back panel I was speaking of.

Now, I'm confused, but I'm used to it. Wear it in good health.

After thinking it over its safe to say you are correct and it is in every way a Hybrid design and meshing of materials.

Thanks and good health be with you also!

Very nice, I was going to ask if the holster collapsed after drawing, but see that it is kydex surrounded by leather.

I've ordered a Silent Thunder in Coyote Brown. Sure hope I like it.

You will love it. The Garretts are great people and they will make you happy. I have the Silent Thunder for my Kahr and it is a very well made product.

I was asked about the rear sight coverage by the holster backing/padding to prevent being stuck by the corner of the sight so here are the pics of that. You can see that the sight is 99% covered with the edge being alligned with the sights sharp edge.I have had no issue with being poked or stuck by the rear sight and I wear it 12-14 hours a day. This includes climbing and bending doing A/C work in the heat. The holster just works!

I just ordered one of these for my shield 2 weeks ago. Any update on how you like it or gratuitous pics to make the wait easier? Thanks in advance!
