For Real?

At the Fort Worth gun show last weekend I got a S&W screwdriver (for $5). It's not the conventional SAT. It's round and flat, about the size of a quarter, with four screwdriver blades of different sizes sticking out from it. Obviously a take-off on the Colt screwdriver. It has the S&W logo on one side and the company's name on the other. Unlike the blued Colt item, this one is chromed or nickle plated.

Is this thing for real? I've never seen one before, and when I searched the forum for 'screwdriver', all I got was more than I wanted to know about SATs.

I'd post a picture, but the thing appears to have disappeared into the black hole that is somehwere in my house. If it reappears, I'll post a picture.

Yes it is real. It was made back in the 1980's. I was told that the metal was to soft and would bend if a screw was tight. They aren't worth alot, but, $5.00 is fair. Keep it for display, they are by no means rare.

And some people still ask ALOT of $$ for it. So watch out.
But if you see one for 5 bucks, take it

CDNN used to sell them with the Colt or S&W logo.
I bought one of each a couple of years ago when I was ordering some stuff. I think they were $1.99 each.
Just checked their website and I don't see them out there anymore.
In fact, they used to run specials where they would throw in a screwdriver free with orders over $25.

CDNN gave them away with orders (one free with this, one free with two of these...) for a while. Between buying a couple at first and then getting some free ones back when I was buying mags, I have either 10 or 11 of them in a little bag in my take-off rubber grip box.... waiting for the price of scrap rubber to go up!

I am in the middle of an "in my spare time" move from one house to another, but when my scrap rubber box comes up at the new house, I just might do that.

By the way... Your hints are about as subtle as my oldest grandson asking for ANOTHER box of 22 shells.
