I just ordered my first m & p shield. Unfortunatly all the supplier had in stock was the 9mm. I usually always carry a .40 but this weapon will be my switch out with my walther pps .40 cal. Im looking like these two weapons are gonna be great to switch out with each other. what are the best/worst features ya'll have found with the shield?? Thanks everyone can't wait for it to get to my ffl for me to pick up. :D:D:D

I haven't found a "worst" feature yet :). Very happy with my 9mm. Best? For the size it shoots well, conceals well.

im like a kid on christmas morning waiting on it to get here so i can take it to the range. Thanks for the input, i was a lil skeptical for the 9 but i think it will be an awesome addition to my collection. Thinking the beretta nano wll be the next addition :)

I shot 100+ rounds thru my 9mm Shield last night. Also the PPS and the Shield fit in the same holster. They are very close and many holsters will accept both guns. But the only way is to check each holster brand. Same holster PPS & Shield

I also prefer the 9mm Shield over the PPS. The ergonomics and hand fit are much better on the Shield and the 9mm gives it more rounds and better follow-up shots due to the reduced recoil.

Best features - Pocketability and such low recoil for its size/weight.
Worst feature (for me) - The external safety and not being ambidextrous friendly (mag release & safety). (So... Not much :))

Im gonna have to check to see if my holster for my pps will fit the shield too. Im looking forward to taking it out and comparing the shield & pps. Thanks for the input man

Congrats of the buy. Bud's probably only had the 1 you got.
Many of the Holster makers use the same model number for the PPS and the Shield. Do a manufacturer site search for your holster and see.

If the PPS holster is a Leather/Kydex hybrid (and you no longer use it for the PPS) you can easily reshape the Kydex to the Shield.
(I did that with an old PF-9 Hybrid, just for the heck of it).

If it's a leather, or nylon Pocket holster, it will most likely work.
I use a Galco PRO286 that was originally listed for the G-26

I bought mine from Buds a few months ago. About 800 rounds thru it. All different brands of defence ammo and reloads as well.

thanks, i use a galco iwb holster for my pps. it works great for both the pps & the shield. I havent tried concealing the shield yet but i will once i get to the range and familiarized with it.

I just bought one too...waiting for my California 10 wait to expire so that I can pick it up. I've heard many good things about this gun.

Sadly, the California version has a red loaded indicator that looks like a roosters comb sticking up on top of the slide.

Oh well, I'm gonna be the first kid on my block with one!

Come on 8/8/12...my pick up date!

Blessing in disguise getting the 9. The 40 is having too many issues hence why mine is gone. My 9 shield is getting close to 1500 rds and accuracy and recoil is superb just what I like in my edc gun. It carrys great.
