Went to pick up my new M&p 40 today and was denied by the BGC.

Seriously, I can't think of anything to flag me.

There should be an appeal process. It could be that someone has a similar name.

Not sure what BGC is, but I was turned down once. The clerk hung up, called straight back, & it cleared. He said it had happened on more than one occasion.

Did you give your SSN for the NICS check? It should help to prevent you from being mis-identified.

There might be ten thousand "Mike Smiths" out there, but only one with SSN 123-45-6789.

Just a thought.

Here in Texas no need to call it in of you have a concealed handgun license. Which h speeds up the process. Hope issues get resolved. Goodluck

Used SSN. All the info was correct.

Was this during the appeal? My initial request was online by the dealer.

Tell us what the BGC is and maybe someone can help answer your question.

Did you put your SN# down or opt out and just used your name?

He might have typed a typo too. Also, you might want to check for identity theft.

I'm guessing Background Check. You should request an explanation as to why you were denied and try to clear it up.

Prolly a glitch in the system or a mistake entering a number. See if they'll just rerun it again.

No, no appeal. It was @ point of sale, dealer called in, I was rejected, he hung up & called straight back, & it cleared the second time. Glitches happen. Oh, I have a CCDW, but at the time there was a time limit of it being a year or two since issue or renewal for not having to check, & my license was past that deadline.

I got denied once a year ago (and I put my SSN) had to file an appeal, it took three weeks to arrive clean, another time I was Delayed for 72 hours then talked to FDLE and they said somebody with a similar name without SSN was in the bad Guys List, they told me that my file was updated and shouldn't be any problems in the future. Recently I purchased a SR9c and everything was fast and smooth, got approved in 2 minutes and took possession of my pistol the same day because I have a CCWL.
