Finally got to take my new 686+ to the range. Shot 158 grain, 357 and 38 special loads. 686 + eats 38 special rounds like candy, hardly no recoil. 357 mag rounds had some pretty good kick, need to find some "lighter" range loads for 357.

This revolver just keeps impressing me, the accuracy is next to none and I don't consider myself great marksman. I look forward to many years of enjoyment with this pistol.

Here are some pics,
Enjoy
Ryan Z.

You have a great gun there, it is amazing how great Texas minds think alike. I went Thursday to the range with my new 686+ 3 inch and had the same results. I am thinking about changing the grips on my 3 inch as the grips on my 686+ 6 inch seem better.

True Texan, what type of rounds were you shooting? I'm trying to find some good target rounds. I don't reload, so I'm wide open for suggestions.

Nice shooting from a great revolver.

Great shooting with a nice piece. For a low recoil 357 load I have found Fiocchi's 142 grain Truncated FMJ to be an excellent match ammo in my 4" 586 and it is pretty inexpensive. Please ignore the one shot I threw to the south.

I do reload the 38spl was rainer 125gr flat nose with bullseye 4 gr. the 357mag rounds i did not reload they were PMC Bronze 158 gr jacketed soft point flat nose. Also had shot about 5 blazer 357 hp 158 gr hp. The PMC I felt really well the blazers were so so. As for target rounds check out various wadcutters target shooting is what they are for.

I love the reloading almost as much as the shooting. Change one variable and try it out till you get just what you want ,not what the company thinks you need.

I have a 686 6 inch that is much easier on the hand. The grips are different S&W rubber grips. I am putting Pachmayr Gripper Decelerator Grips with Finger Grooves on and see if it is better.

I bought the same revolver about 5 years ago. I normally shoot American Eagle .357 mag ammo through it. I can shoot it all day or at least until the ammo runs out <grin>. It is my favorite handgun to shoot at the range. BTW, I shoot my defensive handguns out 7 to 10 yards and my target .22 pistols out to 25 yards.

My fixed sight brother to your 686's

6x10 in target @ 25 feet
Magtech 158gr .357 ammo (1235 fps) 30 rounds fired
Double Action rapid fire

Thanks Magster..

Years of combat drills and carrying a wheelgun pays off....:D

Of course having my own 50 yd combat range in the backyard is a big bonus!

First time to shoot my 686 no dash.

50 yds - 8" - two hands, standing

Not very good, but practice is gonna help and be a LOT of fun!
