Hi I'm wondering what people in other states have to deal with. I know Mass has a 10 round mag limit and I think pinned stalks and Cali has the silly button law and I believe 10 rounds also.
Post what you have to deal with or how many hoops you need to jump through to even get the rifle in the first place.
I count myself lucky to live in a state that doesn't have many restrictions.

Thanks,
Ed
PS- Sorry if this has been brought up before, I didn't notice a similar thread while scanning through.

It's made out to seem like you have to go to the ends of the moon here in Ca to purchase a rifle of any kind. But it's not true. (Thankfully)
We have a 10 day wait for all firearm sales. Whatever; it serves no good purpose other than the part where if an illegal alien is using your ID, it CAN give LEO a chance to catch it. (Yes, a 1.5% chance....) The 10 days rather sucks. But I have not been rejected, and I have never gone without a rifle to shoot, not since I was 7 years old.
As for specific rifles, ala AR's. We got the BS button, yes. You learn to work with it quickly enough; even in a carbine course. Do I like it? NO. If the world flips on its' head, can I function well enough to feel truly safe and secure?? All you need to do is be about 2% creative and industrious, and you will be just fine.
We are stuck with 10 round mags. Not to worry, this still beats out the 30-06 or 30-30 in delivered rounds. And, considering reload times even with the BS button, it's not like you are going to be *** out completley. (Carry a pistol, and if you get into a jam, be sure to have spares and friends to help with the heavy lifting.)
If one really worries that they are totally unable to make self defense work with the available equipment?? Rethink strategy, practice more, and at least have a little faith in ones' own self.
If anyone would think that they are ready to deal with 10 5.56 zinging along in their general direction??? They are not thinking clearly.
Other than this, the process is not too far removed from buying rifles in America.

Here in WV walked in paid for handgun and long gun walked out with them only took as long as NCIS check took about ten min. We also have 30 or more round mags, threaded barrels, removable mags, open carry, CCW fairly easy, no limits on ammo except for better half stopping you one of the more gun friendly states.

Lol about the being almost like buting them in America very good way to put it.
I didn't know about the 10 day wait on long guns also in CA that really sucks but I guess it is what it is. The BS button would be pretty easy to convert to a normal set-up for when the Zombie Apocalypse anyway.

Usually the longest part of transfers for me here in NC is waiting on a clerk to do the "second check" most shops like on the forms. I'm a free law-abiding citizen with a CCW permit, I fill out the form, pay for the gun, and walk out minutes later.

Restrictions? I don't have enough money to buy the whole store.

Let's see...
Open and concealed carry are OK no license needed.
Instant background check (don't need one with CCW permit), it's cash and carry.
If you want a CCW permit it's a 4 hour course, with mail in renewal.
All NFA items are authorized.
Any size magazine OK for hunting (except migratory birds).
Suppressors OK for hunting.
We earn F- from the Brady Bunch, zero points.
Yeah, Arizona rawks!

No waiting period here in Texas and no mag restrictions. I have ordered 2 guns online in the last 6 months, just have to drive to my FFL, fill out the paperwork which takes less than 5 minutes, show him my CHL, hand him the $20 transfer fee, and back to the house I go.

In New Jersey firearms are illegal except under certain exceptions. We have to apply for a FID which allows us to purchase 1 long gun every 30 days but with a confusing list of exclusions such as no bayonet lugs, max 15 round mags,no adjustable stocks. Then we have to apply additionally for a pistol purchase permit which requires 2 references, fingerprinting, mental health check that can take up to a year to process depending on the town, even though by NJ law it has to be processed within 30 days..The permit is only good for 90 days with another 90 day extension depending on the Chief's mood.
Handguns can only be transported to a gunsmith, range,or FFL with only "reasonable deviations" which again is up to individual Leo or Judge's interpretation. we have no actual CCW except for cops and politically connected individuals
As I've posted before legally buying, owning and discharging a firearm in the state of New Jersey is only for the resolute.

TX, AR, NC, WV, AR and my state NH sound about the same. Wow NJ is nuts, I didn't know about how hard it is to even purchase a gun and no CCW that's just wrong.

In New Jersey you can buy as many long guns per day as you want, you can only buy 1 handgun every 30 days.

72 hour wait period for handguns. 24 hour wait for rifles. Suppressors are illegal. No provision for carry: concealed or open.

If I cross into Chicago (rarely), I think they have a ban on mags with a capacity greater than 12 rounds. Chicago residents must attain a permit to have a firearm in the home, and it must from an "approved" list.

Why aren't people getting out and voting to elect people that will stop punishing law abiding citizens for what the criminals do ?
That is what it amounts to, we are being punished for what the criminals do with guns. New York City, Washington DC and Chicago have the strictest gun laws and also the highest crime rates. What does that tell you ?

Pa is shall issue, no classes to take just pass a background check and $50. Anything thats considered a pistol can be carried including AR &looking AK pistols. No mag limits. No ammo limits. OC is ok outside of Philly without a permit. In Philly you can but it's a hassle. SBRs, silencers and full auto is ok with Sheriffs permission. Overall Pa is a very good state for 2a.

Not true. If you have a class A permit you may purchase large capacity mags. I just purchased 3 30 round AR 15 mags at a show on Saturday.:D

Try buying pepper spray in NY. It's almost like buying a rifle. Actually, try buying 3 cans of spray in one day - can't do it.

Here in GA you can get a weapon fairly easily. With a CCW it takes about 15 min, without about 30 min. Suppressors are currently illegal for the general public, but there is a bill in the legislature now to legalize them. I live in the city limits of a very small town. My neighbor was ticketed last month by our lone LEO for shooting a squirrel in the city limits...I now use CB caps for squirrel control.

Kansas pretty simple and straight forward, you go in fill out the paperwork, they make 1 phone call, you give them your money and your done. If I purchase online my FFL guy charges $25, most charge $50. Not sure about suppressors, I have never seen one in Kansas, CCW 1 day course same background check as buying a gun. No limits on purchases or magazines except for certain types of hunting Deer, Upland Birds. Open Carry is legal, depending on the LEO's you deal with you will or will not get hassled.

We don't have too many laws out here in the mountains of West Virginia. I can buy a gun and skip the background check just by presenting my carry permit. Schools and government buildings are "gun free" but that's about it.
The biggest problem I have is that the neighboring state MD does not reciprocate with WV, so if I'm traveling and need to pass through MD I have to stop unload and lock up my gun until I leave. If my destination is in Maryland I just leave my snubby home.
VA is a gold star open carry state, so I sometimes don't bother with a cover garment when we travel through VA.
Only hassle I had was when I entered a Government building in WV and forgot to leave my loaded quick strips in the truck. I had to empty my pockets of any metal objects. The security guard called a cop over and he asked me why I'm carrying bullets. I showed him my carry permit and explained that I removed my revolver but forgot about the reloads. His reply was "next time leave the bullets."

It seems from reading all of these comments that the more restrictive areas are far more known for being dangerous. Go figure-

Like my pal George W. used to say "It aint rocket surgery"
