I got my permit but normally just carry in the vehicle. I been looking at the shield which you cant find hardly. Also been looking at the Ruger LC9 and Keltec PF9. What do yall think of the Ruger or the Keltec anyone have either? How are the triggers? I got the M&P 9mm Full size right now but just to big to carry on person. Thanks for any feedback.

If you like the M&P full size, go for the 9C. It's a good carry pistol if you like that sort of thing.
You will NOT like the Kel Tec or Ruger triggers, and they will beat you up at the range if you are not an experienced pistol shooter.
Otherwise, my number one recommendation for a CCW piece for everyone I have spoken to for about ten years now is:
S&W model 3913.

Ive had all 3 and the shield wins hand down!! The trigger is amazing nothing like the full size m&p!! The PF9 is a pain to shoot!! Literally!! The trigger is very long! Ruger is decent again long trigger pull. Trust me wait for the shield you will thank me!

2001gmc: Have you considered a small frame snubnose revolver? S&W makes many different types of snubnose revolvers, in several different calibers, please consider a snubnose revolver.

I got rid of my PF9 because it beat me up on the range. I had to wear a glove just to shoot it. I shoot 380s, 9 mm, 40s, and 45s, and none of these recoil like that PF9. I have shot the Ruger, and it is pretty much the same way. Go for a gun with more mass (not necessarily size-wise, but with weight). The Shield will fit this bill, but so will something like the Kahr MK9, the Sig P938, the Sig P238, all which have steel frames. I love my M&P 9 (full frame), but I don't carry it. It's a range gun for me. I carry a Kahr MK40 and a Sig P238.

The Kahr K-9 is one of the better ones. The polymer framed version suffers from the same "beat up the shooter" stuff as the Kel Tec.
I really like the steel framed Kahr pistols, but they are not as nice as the 39 series.

Sure is a sweet looking gun.

The M&P 9c would be a great companion piece for your full size. I have one and carry it some. And your high cap mags will work in it.

But, I have to agree with mg357 above, consider a snubby. I love my 442 and it's usually the one I carry.

I had a Kel Tec P11 and didn't care for the trigger on it.

I have a Kahr PM40. It's a nice piece and it has an excellent trigger.

Sig P290. I carry one occasionally and after having thhe new trigger group installed at factory(re-strike) I have to say, it is easy to be accurate, totally reliable, excellent night sights 9mm and quite small enough for a hideout pistol. I actually have 2.

I've been thinkin' of getting an M&P9c, I've checked them out in gun shops. I like the way it fit my hand and the trigger felt pretty good too.
Like Matthew1.21, I love my 442 snubby and it's my daily carry.

I've owned quite a few small/subcompact carry pistols, except Kel Tec, and hands down I recommend the Shield. The 3913 is a sweet piece, but it is no longer in production, getting harder to find, and more expensive, and being that almost certainly will have to buy it second hand, S&W may or may not warrant it. My recommendation is the Shield. I didn't care for the LC9. The M&P9c would be my second pick.

There is a Shield .40 cal on Armslist.com in Asheville, NC for $450.

I have a PF-9 and I like mine. If I were buying another, I would go for the hard chrome slide. I agree with what has been said about their triggers, but I have the Northwood aluminum trigger on mine and I love it.

I have looked at the Kahr's and like the looks of them but never had any experience with that brand.

I have read a lot of good reviews on the Kahr's I have a CW.45 on the way (or maybe not bought it from Palmetto State Armory and am having the dreaded CS BS, been over a week not shipped and no word from CS:eek:). Want to try it but have to get it first.
