Ever given away a S&W?

I have a very good friend (obviously) he's a Retired Air Force Lt. Colonel, he flew F-4's and transitioned to the F-16 platform later. He taught advanced combat flight techniques for a long time. This is a great guy, one who's opinion I respect more than any other person I've ever met.
A while back I decided to give him a pristine S&W M65, pinned and recessed as a gift. It made quite an impression on him, to say the least.
This is one of the rare breed of Officer that I would have enjoyed serving under, a very thoughtful and wise person without pretensions. He's been a great friend and neighbor for years now and I just felt it was the right thing to do.
Have any of you given a nice S&W to a friend before? If so I'd like to hear about it.

Yes, last year. The son of a family friend is a US Army medic and had just come home from the sandbox. He and I have gone shooting before, and he was interested in picking up a snub for CCW. He ended up with one of my 37-2s, no charge.

Yes, I have given a S&W to my best friend. He had spoken of wishing for a stainless revolver and I gifted him with my M65-3 three-inch. He was most most happy to receive it and still has it some twenty-years later. I have another and we both love them. He had always had my back during some tumultuous times, so I felt it fitting he get it from me. I have never regretted it.

My father gave me his NIB Model 10-5 back in 1981. I plan on giving it to my son tomorrow. I just bought a Model 66-2 as a replacement.

I gave a lnib S&W 37 to my Dad after I got out of the Navy , bought my house and retrieved all my guns I had stored there. He was a WWII combat vet , but was not a gun-guy. Still , he never stopped me and signed for my handguns when I was younger. I got it back when he died. Later , I gave it to a girlfriend who was a nurse. She never liked guns , but after several co-workers were attacked , she relented and I taught her how to handle one. She got her LTCF and I gave it to her for Xmas.

We split up over the kids issue. She was young and wanted some , I'm old and didn't! We're still friends and she still has the 37.

A good friend was moving to the middle of nowhere Idaho (Kooskia) and didn't have a handgun, so I gave him a 6" 27-3, with very good imitation ivory.

Also, I recently gave my sister a 2" 10-11, with beautiful Thai Rosewood stocks. She thought it was a lot more stylish than anything "tupperware"!

I gave my son-in-law a beautiful Model 15 for Christmas last year. He's a great guy and Dad to four of my thirteen grandkids. He's the "Skipper" of the fire boat for Portland Fire Department on the Willamette River. He did really well marrying my daughter Almost forgot, I gave his oldest son a .38 S&W "Regulation Police" the last time I was in town.

Two. One, a 3" model 60 prelock to friend on the birth of his daughter. He needed a carry/house gun. The second a 6" 66-1 to my nephew to graduate to from his .22 and to teach his kids as they grow older.

Oh yes. Twenty-one years ago, when he was five years old, I gave the brushed nickel #2214 in the bottom of the photo to my son.

I gave this rag nasty #36 to my son in the spring of 2011.

I also gave this #66 to my son last November, and bought him the combat stocks as well.

I gave this #10-5 to my son's father-in-law, as he did not own a handgun.

I bought this S&W 331TI for my daughter. It did not look girly enough so I added the pink stocks.

A few months ago, I swapped forum member XAVMECH this #39-2 for his #3953.

I gave him this one as well. He still speaks to me, in case anybody was wondering, LOL!!

I tried to give one to each of my dogs to protect themselves when we go out walking. They were not interested and said that they would rather have bisquits so I kept them all. One can only try!
