NY Has Tentative Deal on Gun Control: AP

Well the photo OP and decision will happen tomorrow......with a selected group of children that wrote letters to the Pres after the Horrific event was over. My guess is that we will all be criminals by tomorrow night.

I'm sorry, Lee and the Mods. Ding me if you need to...I'll take it.

Wow...

Wonder how many are actually going to comply? They're kinda creating a whole class of criminals.

I am waiting to see how many people get snagged by carrying more than seven rounds in one of those 10 round mags. For a first offense it is a misdemeanor with a $200 fine and thirty days in jail. Those who have mags over ten rounds that were legal before today have one year to surrender them or sell them out of state.
There is one good thing about this bill, it has finally united ALL the gun owners of this state and got them good and riled and nothing has done that before in my lifetime. It's about time, but it took this to do it and up until yesterday there were still a lot of gun owners saying "It won't affect me" or "it won't pass", now those gun owners all realize that they are in the same boat. There is already legal opposition mounting to this and a march planned on Albany this weekend, gun owners and not going quietly. They had a judge read through some of the legislation and he could not understand a lot of it because you allow them to have the magazines but you are telling them how to use them, kind of a double blind. Also having people register the long guns and essentially themselves, that might not hold up. Ammo purchasing is going to get tricky. The worst part was when I was watching the Senate debate seeing Democrat after Democrat stand up and shout how this is only the beginning, handguns are next and so isn't microstamping. A line has been drawn and now there will be a fight, to what end who knows.

//Sarcasm* WOW look at that he just saved a potential of 3 lives per magazine right there!

The stupidity of politicians is mind boggling.

All,

I am mad a hell, but I also realize, after watching several hours of the NY assembly today, that there are only a handful of rational thinkers in Albany, that there is nothing I as an individual can do other than call and write to everyone, which I have done multiple times.

March on Albany? Tell me when. I will take vacation from work and make the 4 hour drive. The NRA needs to get it's lawyers engaged and file Injunction law suits against this.

Any recall petition I will sign.

I will still move out of this state next year!

Believe me, single shot was talked about in the Assembly today! Sheer lunacy!

So essentially now all AR and styles are illegal since there is no 7rd magazine. Gee, I'm sure that was a coincidence.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but I get the impression that high cap mags for a pistol will be included, that the current Glock 19, for example, which comes in either a 10 round or 15 round mag will be illegal, requiring the manufacture of a new NY specific magazine?

That is my interpretation as well,

I'm surprised they didn't limit it to 6...then there would be no reason to get an auto...everyone would buy a revolver...and of course, the death toll would go up since revolver shooters are better shots since they know they only have six...

Aloha,

I'm curious as to Who is going to Enforce those Laws.

And what will happen If/When people Refuse to comply en masse.

Will there be SWAT teams going house to house?

I can see something similar happening here in Hawaii as we have a

similar governor, an almost ALL Democratic legislature, anti 2A prosecutor

and me too legislators.

As of now, all have been much too quiet about gun legislation so I

guess that when the legislature starts next week, the Anti 2A Bomb

will drop and roll thru over feeble protests.

The sad thing is very few gun owners belong to the NRA and local

NRA affiliate.

They line up for HOURS to Register their gun purchases ,,,,,,,,,

With out any major protests....... and they wonder how such laws get

passed. And Why NRA/HRA does nothing.

Cuomo signed. It is a done deal:http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/16/nyregion/tougher-gun-law-in-new-york.html?ref=nyregion

NY took a page out of Obama's playbook - draft legislation in secrecy and then ram it through at light speed before anyone has a chance to object. An incredible abuse of their power and charge to represent the people.

Nothing in that legislation was directed at decreasing violence. They did not even pretend that it did. Do bayonet lugs, telescoping stocks, hand grips or flash suppressors increase the accuracy or rate of fire of a weapon? When the hell was the last time someone committed a mass bayonetting?

Many of us observed that the federal government was careening out of control. It now appears that state governments have taken the lead in destroying the rights of the people to seize more power by those in control.

I am sure Hitler is smiling up at Cuomo right now.

holy ****... what doesn't that thing cover.. glad im out of NY... Even my son's Nerf guns wouldn't be safe

A lot of Sates may end up doing the Feds job FOR them...then the FED only has to deal with the holdouts....

That's a good letter, Dave. You should circulate it as much as you can. I would consider moving to another state also. I'm considering leaving my own home state behind, since fracking has completely ruined the environment. Your tax dollars will spend elsewhere. Better wait to see if other states are going to jump on the bandwagon. I hope this isnt the final straw that divides the nation.

It's a sad day to see such a political move, and to know it could be just the beginnig, with more news coming tomorrow. It's even more sad to think that half of the population is uninformed enough to believe that these kinds of measures will help anything, and how murdered children are being used to facilitate a gun control / power grab.

It's just one more way that the U.S. Constitition has been trashed in the last few years. It's going to take the NRA and a very smart legal team to get politicians back to respecting the Constitution, and to go after the ones who are violating it.

Very sorry to the New Yorkers.

When Gov. Andrew Cuomo headed HUD a decade or so ago, he wanted to make it illegal for anyone in public housing to have a gun for protection.

He didn't care that a lot of the HUD-housed people were regular victims of crime.

Luckily his proposal was overruled by a court, as I recall.

He, like Feinstein, believe no non-government people should own a gun, any kind of gun.
