Smith & Wesson® Withdraws from Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show®

I don't agree with the antis but they won. They got a slam dunk too.

Not only are ARs not being displayed….. nothing is being displayed.

Hopefully someone will organize a show to replace what was canceled.
I also disagree.
Yes, we lost a major show.
That is the price of showing promoters they better stand WITH the 2A instead of worrying about being PC.
That, to me, is a price well paid.
I do not think we will see another promoter take the PC route.

Togetherness- it's what keeps DC at bay! :D
Group Hug time.

JOIN the NRA!

Actions have consequences!
We just have to hope the wigs at Reed (and the other anti 2A's) will realize the error in their ways.

What other shows does Reed manage? I'm not familiar with them. The trade show industry should fill the gap quite soon I expect.
The one thing that surprised me was that they are a multi national business based in the UK. Rather Ironic and perhaps not so surprising after all that such a fatal mistake was made.

Interesting perspective....you believe that when the firearms community stands together to oppose politically correct decisions by anti 2a folks it is a win for the antis? So, according to the way you are currently thinking, we all just stop making noise and sit down?

You put way too much thought into how you think I'm thinking.

The antis got what they wanted this time.

That's it.

I hope that a group steps up and puts on a bigger and better show.

I would hope that "REED" is forever REDUCED here in the states to being

A NON-PROMOTER OF FIREARMS & SPORTING EVENTS.

Lots of people are Promoters.

I would be more than happy to reinstate and manage the show for them, but allowing the vendors/participants to display anything that is legal.

This was a tragedy on more than one level, but a tremendous victory for the gun world. Finally we see a concerted effort to change for the good.

I have to disagree that the anti's won. Yes, a major show has been cancelled, but a major show that had changed forever to fit the anti's agenda.

We are at a critical stage in whether we preserve or lose our Second Amendment Freedoms. We have watched as the anti's have tried to slowly and incrementaly chip away at the Second Amendment - a little here, a little there.

One of the primary tactics they have used in the past is to divide and conquer. Well of course, we respect hunters, we will let them keep their tools but not those Modern Sporting rifle guys. They lull one section into complacency withour fear of having to fight them, and allow the anti's to focus their attack. And sometimes even agreeing with them (remember Jim Zumbo and his evil AR rant).

What has happened now, is that everyone is waking up. They see the tactics, and look back and see the incremental change. They realize that even their interests do not lie in Modern Sporting Arms, they will be in the slot defending their interests in short order.

The Second Amendment does not require you to ask permission. To ask someone to "allow" you to keep your rights. They are yours, and it is clear that no one shall infringe upon them. The anti's would have you think that a right is the same as a privlilege. Driving is a privilege, and you have to have a license to drive and register your car. But a right is not dependent on asking the state's permission for some form of license. It was there before there was any state. It is your and yours alone.

So yes, there will be one less major show this year. But the victory lies in this: This was a tipping point event for us. One in which everyone came together to take a stand. Even non-firearm related interests. Boating companies, archery companies, food vendors, equipment sellers.....

Someone took one step forward, and others followed their lead. To me, it is an incredible showing of solidarity for the Second Amendment by the PEOPLE. And therein lies the major victory.

We are more together now than we have ever been. And we are prepared to all take a stand and say, "No More". We stand together or hang separately. And we will stand together.

What is also clear to me is that up until today, we were just firearm owners against the Administration, gun control groups, and billionaires like George Soros and Michael Bloomberg. We felt like we were at the Alamo. But today, reinforcements came pouring in.

We can't forget what those vendors who pulled out did for the Second Amendment today. They lead by example, and with their pocketbooks. So let's welcome the cavalary into the game. Our ranks are growing, and our resolve is reaching a hard temper.

Cordite,

No one could have said that better.

This was and is, a plant the flag issue.

Reed Expos manages the SHOT Show (which is under review), the International Security Conference (ISC West and East), PGA Merchandise Show...over 78 different shows in the Americas, 147 in Europe, 191 in Asia Pacific and a smaller number in Africa and the Middle East.

I am very proud of Smith & Wesson and the entire industry for closing down this trade show. I own 4 Smiths and will soon own a 5th.

I wanted to say a special thank you to Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Mossberg and all the others who stood up to this blatant disregard of the 2 Amendment and all legal gun owners of this country.

To Smith & Wesson, I am still wanting to buy the 9mm Shield, but if you would be so kind to send a .40 S&W along with it to my LGS, I will purchase that as well.

S&W Withdraw

We support your position. All firearm and Ammunition Companies, etc. should do likewise. Remember united we stand, divided we fall. We are right and should never let anyone take our 2 amendment rights away. They would try assault rifles, semi-auto rifles, shotguns, and pistols, and even revolvers, if we give in to anything. Bless you S&W, you will always have our business.
