Biden: "So You Want to Keep People Away in an Earthquake: Buy Some Shotgun Shells'

VP Biden did a live webcast today (1/24/13) to review his proposals for civilian disarmament, or "gun safety" as he wants to call it.

He declared a new AWB to be a "non-negotiable" at one point early on, and repeatedly made fallacious and erroneous arguments about the effectiveness of the '94 AWB, as well as the value of mag limitations (which in his mind will slow down bad guys long enough to allow for LE response, but will not reduce the effectiveness in the case of a legal defensive use )

But one of his most flagrant idiocies was this one:

We are not dealing with rational people in this debate, that much is apparent. Keep writing your reps, and join the NRA, GOA, SAF, and whatever other pro-2A organizations you can. We can beat them!

ETA Note the look on the guy's face while he's listening to Biden's response. You can just see him thinking, "... this is so stupid, I couldn't have heard that right..." or something along those lines.

He apparently saw many cowboy matinees growing up.
The good guys (white hats) can shoot all day with a SA Colt.
The bad guys (black hats) run out of ammo and have to throw the gun.

This magic has now been put on the 10 rd mag. This was done with a magic spell that only political wizards can cast. The bad guy runs out before he can do harm and the good guy has all he'll ever need.

Yep, the man is something to behold. Completely unfettered by facts or the truth. The most generous judgement I can make is that he is an ignoramus, but as Lee pointed out, there is a distinct possibility that he just doesn't care about blatantly lying if it seems to serve his agenda.

I see even some of the main stream media are picking up on his statement that a double-barreled shotgun is a better self-defense gun than a semi-automatic carbine; that remark is apparently too impressively stupid for even them to pass up...

If you want to read a few stupid remarks from anti-gun folks go to the comments section of the New York Times and the article on BF. As of this evening there are over 1000 comments. Example: A person responded that if your house was being broken into by more than one person you'd be better off with an AR-15 than to rely on the police. Not so, responded another person. If you shoot at the intruders that will only force them to shoot back. Another person suggests that to stop the violence we destroy all "assault rifles", then people can rely on "normal" guns like handguns and shotguns, and keep them in a safe manner. I guess that includes criminals. There are arguments on both sides, but some of the anti-gun crowd have no idea what they are talking about and are living in a world the rest of us cannot see or hear. And they accuse the NRA of being out of touch?
