Just bought 5000 rds .22 LR at Walmart for $23.00 a box of 550. They had about 40 boxes called my buddy down and my dad. Three box limit but I finagles 9 boxes. Convinced the guy that I was a different person after each trip to the car :D

Good for you.
I'm surprised it was $23 a box though.
They had me used to $10-15, then $18.
I'm glad I'm stocked up.

I don't see it as panick buying on your part. Or maybe it is panick buying because you are low on ammo, which is all the more reason to get it while you can.

This is why we have a shortage or at least a perceived shortage. You circumvented the limits set by the business and by the tone of your post you're proud that you "finagled" the system. You got to get "what you want" therefore depleting the stock available by an additional six boxes making it seem to the next few buyers there is a "shortage". Me I wouldn't be proud to put a post up like that but that's just me.

OP, I think those complaining are the ones, maybe like you, who failed to plan ahead. I'm glad you scored some ammo and have no sympathy for those who failed to plan ahead.

However at the gun show this weekend I sold a mom who had a 12 year old daughter in tow who was shooting 4H. I sold her two Federal 550 packs for a total of $35. Now I wish I'd just given the mom and kid the ammo.

I shoot every weekend. M4 .22lr and 1911 .22 I would have purchased every singe box if the would have sold it to me. Don't whine about it, go out every single day like I do to find it.

Placing limits on ammo is ridiculous. We live in a free Republic right? It is called capitalism, they sell, I buy.

Not just ammo but reloading supplies also. Some of the LGS in my area are only selling primers 100 at a time, when and if they get them. Powder prices have gone up also. After this temporary spike recedes, I plan to start purchasing powder by the keg! (if possible).

This is ridiculous some of you are coming down on the OP for buying something. This is a classic example of why we give last place trophies. I am sorry and not to be harsh but life is not fair get over it.

I am sure if you put in the time and effort the "Horder's did" then you to could have ammo.

There are exceptions to this rule such as local small gun shops buying out places like Walmart to resale. Once you open a business your held to a higher standard by the community.

But the OP clearly stated he plans to shoot what he bought so yea. Sorry for the mini rant just ticks me off. This life needs to be fair and others need to give up so I can get my fair share ticks me off.

Exactly why nobody else can find any ammo because the hoarders are driving up prices. I hope prices bottom out and all the hoarders paid twice what their ammo is worth.

I have not seen a drastic price increase in the retail market at all. They only "price increase" are people scalping the ammo 3 time it's value. Me purchasing 9 out of the 100 boxes they had does not constitute "hoarding". I guess the real intent of my original post was to let people know that the ammo is flowing to the stores. If you want to berate someone, do it to the fools who are actually paying 3x the price of ammo. I like to buy in bulk, who doesn't?

Settled for two boxes (1110 rounds) of Winchester bulk 22lr. Drove past another Walmart later in the day but didn't stop to see if they had any ammo.

I'm sorry but if you read his original post it had nothing to do or say about using the ammo. It clearly stated that he scored some ammo and he got an extra six boxes of ammo by convincing the guy "that I was a different person after each trip to the car". He even threw in a little happy faced icon for good measure. That means he circumvented the rules of the store by LYING and coerced the employee into selling him extra boxes of ammo. It's got nothing to do with capitalism, life isn't fair, not having enough put away or any other of the pro I want it all opinions out there it's about what is right and what is wrong he was clearly gloating that he got an extra six boxes above the 3 box limit. That my friends means that potentially two other customers did not and will not have the opportunity to buy that ammo. And as far as limits being "ridiculous" it is the stores CHOICE to decide what and how much they want to sell same as they do bread, coke products, potato chips etc. etc.

This morning at a Walmart here in Houston, I bought five (5) boxes (325 rds/box) of Federal AutoMatch for $13.47/box. Total 1625 rds. There was a 3-box limit, but the nice lady at the counter told me she was limited to 3 boxes per transaction and that I could put what I had just bought in my car and come back a second time for another transaction. I bought only two boxes on my second trip. I do not feel guilty.

At least you are honest in your post, no funny icons and are straight up without having any guilt. My only issue with circumventing the limits is I want to see ammo getting to as many gun owners out there as it can. This includes new gun owners which for whatever reason did not "stock up" and guys that just like going out a blasting a few rounds with their friends "like me". I have bought the last box of ammo before, bought a heckuva lot of ammo at one time and have called the guys at the station and asked if they needed some ammo because I was standing in front of "a whole bunch". However I don't lie, talk them into selling me more or go get the manager and raise Cain because I should be able to buy as much as I want I know why the limits are there and I abide by them. I am pro-gun and care about my fellow man and woman that's just me and I don't feel guilty about that.
