As I understand the NY 7 round law if you own a magazine currently which holds more than 7 but not greater than 10 (greater than10 was illegal before new law) you can only load up 7. However, from my reading an owner of such a magazine must sell the magazine or dispose of said magazine outside the state of New York within 1 year.
Considering most semi automatic handguns are made for more than 7 rounds there is the possibility the indirect consequence would be a semi automatic ban if a 7 round magazine is not available.
I would imagine more popular handguns like Glocks will have available 7 round magazines but less popular or older model semi autos I could see in NY could become illegal to own due to the fact a 7 round magazine is not offered.
This law will eventually end up in the Supreme Court but in the mean time not good if you live in New York especially if you own a semi auto handgun which holds more than 7 rounds.

If you can only "load" 7 rounds in a larger mag and you can not buy them in your state what is to keep you from buying one in another state while on vacation and bring it back?
