I am now the 2nd owner of a revolver that was purchased in 1981! What is this revolver worth?

It's a 629 (No Dash) in 98% condition, and has only been fired a dozen times since it's purchase in 1981. I have all of the original paperwork with it, original box, and the sales receipt from 1981.

Thanks for the help.

Nice gun, if you had the presentation case and the tools it should easily be worth a grand

There is one on GunsAmerica right now for $725 that has rubber (Pachmayr) grips and doesn't look as nice.

There's also a nice one on GunBroker with 4 hours to go, in a wood presentation case. Currently at $806.

Thanks for pointing that out! I called the older gentleman that I bought it from, and he said that he DID have that presentation box and it was in the top of his closet. He forgot which pistol it went to, over the years, and had a habit of putting all of his pistols in the generic blue boxes in the safe for storage.

He's giving me the box this afternoon, and he said the box is in 'Perfect' condition and has all of the tools with it in a separate compartment.

I'm surprised you did not pose the question before you bought the gun. I hope you got a good deal. It looks like a nice piece, and with presentation case and all... Enjoy.

I got the gun on trade for services for the gentleman. Technically, I only have my paint and time into it. :)

That sure is a nice one, glad you got the box and tools, you should post a photo in the 629 club its probably 3 or 4 pages back in this forum

Thanks CWH44300. I posted a pic in there, but will have to take a better one when I receive the case. I just sat the pistol on my leatherworking table and snapped a quick shot of it when I did this.

No. It's not a pinned barrel. I just ran a generic serial # search and it was produced from 1980 to 1983.

There are some posts in the 629 club dealing with transitional guns, if you can find the time to go through them and compare serial numbers you might find out who has a litter mate to yours, I have one posted in there has well and I'm very interested in finding info on others
