M&P22 feedback??

I am looking seriously at getting an M&P22 to go alone with my 15-22 and my 40. I figure I love the rest of the platforms in that line so far and I think a 22 pistol would be a great addition. Does anyone have one?? any feedback??

I have and love mine. Lots of fun to shoot.

Choice of ammo seems to be important until it loosens up. Coated stuff (like Remington Golden Bullets) worked best for me.

Good thing I've got a few boxes of plated. I think I'll go back and get a few more if they still have them.

I have about 700 rnds of non plated. Granted its all they had and right now beggars can't be choosy

I recently purchased the MP22 and I have to say its a hell of a gun. I've only shot it about 300rds with no FTF or FTL. I shot Federal bulk pack / CCI through mine. I also own the Ruger SR22 that I love and im going to try to get to the range to do a complete comparison to see which one is more accurate and etc. So far I have been really impressed with the MP22 and I dont think anyone could go wrong with this purchase.

Of course we have them. They are cheaper shooting in these crazy times,fit like the FS M&P's and are a great addition to the 15-22. It's a great little plinker.

Just bought mine yesterday and heading out to shoot it for the first time today. Got it all cleaned and ready to go! Sure do like the feel of it...it fits a full size hand real good. I'll let you know how it goes.

We carry them and it's the pistol we use for teaching our CCW course. Great pistols and they give you the same look and feel if you're going to carry another M&P.

I have loved mine! Shot about 800 rounds of various brands with about 5 failures to feed. No FTE's. Very accurate and very fun to shoot. It's very easy to put > 200 rounds downrange before you know it! Since "The Panic of 2012-13" I'll shoot about 200 rds with the .22 and about 100 rds with my M&P 9c when I want to work with my M&P's.

Trouble is: I have a lot more 9mm ammo than .22 of now!

I've own the Ruger SR22 for several months now and I have put it through the test. I've shot over 2000 plus rounds without 1 single problem no matter what brand of ammo I use and that's saying a lot when it comes to 22lr. When my wife and I go to the range she grabs the Ruger and you know the rest so that's why I bought another 22 pistol. I looked at most of the 22 line of pistols and it came down to the Colt 22, MP22 and the GSG 22. I almost got the GSG but I thought it was a little to heavy for a 22 so I bought the MP22 (along with the M&P45c) and so far I have been really pleased with my purchase. My first time at the range I was really impressed with the accuracy and my wife at first didn't like it because she didn't like a full size gun and once she shot it she said it was her gun and I can have my Ruger back. I was surprised because she really loved the Ruger.

I really didn't expect a lot when it come to a 22lr pistol because I owned the Sig Mosquito in the past and I was so disappointed with the gun because if you didn't use CCI mini mags then you was wasting your time. The Ruger SR22 has spoiled me because of the flawless range visits so far and I can only hope the M&P22 will be as reliable as the Ruger has and so far its living up to my expectations and for now my wife is convinced that the M&P22 is better than the Ruger but only time will tell because we haven't owned the M&P22 that long. I'm going to the range this coming week and I will give you my results between the Ruger SR22 and the M&P22.

I've had my M&P22 for a little over a year and could not be happier with it. I have over 7000 rds through it so far without a single problem.

The SR22 sounds like a nice piece also but I prefer a full size as it complements my 9mm.

From my testing, and selling, the Ruger malfunctions probably 10 times more than the S&W. They have a relatively poor performance history.

I picked one up a couple of weeks ago for the same reason you are considering one - I got an M&P 15-22 for Christmas. I was also lucky and got two 12 round magazines from 44mag.com (they arrived before the pistol did). So far, the only ammunition I could get for it is Blazer bulk, and it runs perfectly through it. This last weekend I fine tuned the sights to where I can get good groups right where I'm aiming. The range I belong to has a 50 foot steel plate range, and I was making music running from one plate to another. I'm hoping to enter some two gun competitions this year with my pair.

I purchased my M&P-22 about six weeks ago and love it. It's a very fun gun to shoot. Get one if you can find it. You will not be disapointed.

I just picked up a M&P22 about a week ago and finally got a chance to take it out and shoot it today. Fantastic little gun. When I brought it home I disassembled it and completely cleaned it. Then I applied two coats of Frog Lube to it before shooting it for the first time. It has one of the slickest actions that I have ever owned. I really think the Frog Lube helped it, as it is smoother now after a couple of applications. Anyway, since 22LR ammo is practically nonexistent in my area, I had to resort to using some several year old Remington Thunderbolt ammo. I would have liked to have started it out on something better, but haven't been able to find any 22 ammo other than 22 shorts, or 22 bird shot. Regardless, the S&W worked perfectly. it handled the Thunderbolt ammo without the slightest hint of a hiccup. This new M&P 22 has got to be one of the slickest little 22 handguns on the market, and I think that after a little more break-in time, it will only get better. Now if I can only locate a M&P15-22 M.O.E to go along with it, I'll be set.
So if your're looking for a little feedback on the M&P22, I can absolutely say that it is one of the best (if not the best) 22 cal. handgun that I have ever shot. It has worked perfectly for me, is highly accurate, and is one of the most comfortable to hold handguns ever. You will not be disappointed.

To those that have owned the M&P .22, how picky is it with ammo? Any FTF/etc. with cheaper ammo? Obviously with the market right now you've got to fire what you can get.

If I had some land and could go plinking in my back yard I'd buy one right now but all of my shooting thusfar (only been shooting handguns since last May) has been at the range. Hard to drop $350+ on another pistol when I can rent it at the range for $5. It'd take me 70 range visits to justify the cost plus I don't have to clean their gun.

I bought a 15-22 MOE last Friday and today I bought the M&P 22 that I should get late next week.

As others have said, the M&P22 is a great, fun "little" gun to practice with at the range. You can easily blow through several hundred rounds without even realizing it. I wouldn't recommend using Winchester 36 gr in the 525 bulk pack...too inconsistent. My first box had very few FTF/FTE issues, but the next batch that I bought (2,100 rounds) seems to have 1-3 FTF/FTE's in almost every 12-round magazine. Very rare that I can shoot a full mag cleanly. I've switched to CCI 40 gr mini mags, but still have a LOT of the Winchester to get through. .22LR is also very difficult to come by right now.

I bought an M&P 22 the other day....I disassembled it and found a lot of packing grease behind the spring rod. I cleaned and relubed it and I shot it this weekend. I used bulk federal 36 grain and CCI Maxi mags. the gun shot very well. Had to adjust the windage. over 200 rounds and no malfunctions whatsoever. I am happy with the purchase. especially with the price of rounds these days. I look forward to shooting this gun a lot to get a lot of practice in with wife and kids and not the expense of shooting my .40, .45, or 9mm.
