I´m not only a S&W fan but a photographer...

Beautiful locations.
Wonderful photography, skilled photographer.
Can you shoot a pistol and rifle as well as you shoot a camera?

Love the photographs !! The first one is my favorite...
Looks like beautiful country where you live and travel.
I'll never leave the United States as there is too much
here i have yet to see. If you get back to the states and
are in the Indiana area drop me a line and i will treat you
to some range time and beverages are on me.

I've often wondered if someone living in Malaga (my keyboard doesn't do accentos) can look with a binocular across the Straits of Gibraltar (?) and see North Africa? Not sure just where you are on the coast.

Which sidearms do the police carry? I got the impression somewhere that they have turned to H-K in lieu of Star (out of business) and Astra, probably also out of business. ?? What about Spanish military pistols? The last I heard, they had Star M-30's. Are you limited to a certain number of rounds a year? It may be that I heard that of Portugal, not Spain.

Hi there, I am near Nerja about 1 hour from Malaga and around 2 hours or so from Gibraltar. I've never been there so I am unsure. From the beach I cannot see the African continent though I did from the air a few times landing Malaga.

I believe the police use glock sidearms.

With your looks and weapons skill, do you get teased for being a sort of real life Modesty Blaise, if you've read those thrillers by Peter O'Donnell?

And, on a Spanish note, have you seen a movie called, "Juana la Loca", English-titled as, "Mad Love"? It's about the daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella who married a man that I think was the Duke of Burgundy. Have to look up his title. I believe that he became a king. Anyway, they were passionate about one another until he got caught with a Moorish princess on the side, and the Spanish chick, Juana (Joan) blew her top. He eventually got her sequestered in a convent, and went on to become a king, if memory serves. It was Spain's entry for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars ceremony a few years ago, and won. Splendid pagentry, with beautiful castles and period fashions. The primitive means of travel then (circa 1500) made me appreciate how we have cars now. You can find details about the movie and probably previews on YouTube.

Just a thought, if you appreciate Spanish history and a well told tale of a doomed love, amidst a glamorous background of great splendor. You'll probably like the Duke; the actor resembles that guy Fabio who used to be on the covers of a lot of romance novels. :D And there's a good scene where he was practicing at archery! The guys here will like Juana and the Moorish chick, who was dancing in a bar when the Duke first saw her and later moved her to the palace as a courtesan. It's in Castillian Spanish, with English or French subtitles.

I haven't seen or read any sorry. But they all sound really good :)

One other question: what are the knife laws there? Can you carry a normal Swiss Army pocketknife? A lockblade folder with a four-inch blade?..

I would say the laws regarding knives are quite lax though you must be 18 to purchase a knife and yeah the Swiss army pocketknife (any knife) is legal.

Yes. Including my bow (head shots with bunnies)

I have a lot of experience shooting glocks, AR-17 and shotguns

Hi I use a Nikon D60 with a 10-55mm and 50-200mm Nikkor lenses

Hi everyone I use a Nikon D60 with a 18-55mm and 15-200mm Nikkor lenses.

 Don't mean to bust your rear, but Nikon doesn't make a 50-200mm, a 10-55mm or a 15-200mm. Are they actually your pictures?

I shoot several Nikons with a lot of Nikon lenses, I was just interested in what you used.... I figured you'd say 35mm and/or 50mm primes.

Thanks!

1911 Girl-

I think the post about Andulusia is not just a spelling difference; it's probably some town in his state.

What is an AR-17? Typo for AR-15? I think I once saw a reference to an AR-17 that was a shotgun. I don't think it was made for very long. Ugly half plastic thing with a Monte Carlo comb stock.

BTW, as a Scot, you may be familiar with a newsman named Piers Morgan, suspected in the UK of being involved in the vast snooping job by Murdoch's newspapers and tabloids. He's over here now, working with the anti-gun crowd to get tighter firearms controls. It's been suggested that he go home, but he says the Brits don't want him there, either. Unless he gets indicted...let's hope.

Again, welcome to the board. You're not the only non-American here. We have several Aussies, Canadians, two South Africans, a Brazilian or two, two guys from Mexico (one is actually a Canadian citizen living there, where he runs an ice cream store) , and one from Uruguay. Had a Venezuelan, but he went silent after Hugo Chaves was elected. I hope he's all right and is just lying low until that commie dictator passes on.
You're not the only one from the UK; another just asked about double rifles in the last week. But I think you're the first Scot.

Thanks for the answers to my questions. You can Search for Modesty Blaise, and find lots of info on her. She was not just in the truly excellent novels. She appeared as a comic strip in some 57 countries. Only one US newspaper ran the comic, as it was thought to be too racy for US family audiences, and some occasional censorship had to be done for the US edition.

Modesty used AR-15 and other rifles as needed, but her everyday weapons were a Colt .32 (model not specified, but probably a Cobra or Detective Special) and a Star PD .45 in the later books. Had a S&W .41 Magnum for longer range use on a couple of occasions. And she was a judo expert who could pull off the wooden handle to her purse and use it as a yawara stick. Her pal Willie Garvin was a knife expert and made his own, including throwing knives.

Garvin had a Bowie knife with an 11-inch blade that he used while diving. He killed one bad guy with it and another found the body. He looked at the wound and said, "You'd not fix that with a styptic pencil!" BTW, that bad guy was a Scot. :D

I had auto correction on my iPad from my camera forum, I am a member of a photography forum and discuss lots of topics about lense and I don´t know why that happened. The main lens I use is the 18-55mm nikkor lens which came with my camera.

And yes they are my pictures. I feel a little offended.

Ah ok, no problem I thought it was a typo about Andalucía. Sorry this iPad is doing my head in with auto correction, remembering certain words and numbers. AR 15 I meant to type. No more iPad from now on, just my laptop.

Heres a cell phone pic for anyone who doubts me.

Mistakes do happen and I hate iPad´s.

I am a sincere and honest person.

Piers Morgan, yes how can I forget. Not exactly a popular man in Scotland, not sure about England, maybe the same.

You can keep him there :D

No Ma'am, I live in Andalusia. That's in Alabama. Sure would like to visit the province of Andalucia one day though.

Again no disrespect meant Sarah, just wanted to see if you're real. ;)

They are beautiful photos and as I also shoot I wondered a bit about your method. The clarity on your photos is fabulous so I just figured you'd tell me you were shooting a D700 with Nikkor 50mm or 14-24mm f2.8. Equipment I just can't touch. To see those results with a D60 and a kit lens is humbling. :o

Beautiful work. Nice lighting. You have a good eye.

I've never used Photoshop, but my old Olympus OM-1's have taken some sharp photos when the lighting was okay. My Nikon is an FG, wih a stock 50mm lens. I think the Olympus Zuiko lenses are just slightly sharper, but the 50mm I have isn't Nikon's top 50mm. Mine is a 1:8. I think their 1:4 is sharper. I hope I expressed the lens ratios right.

I've published a number of my photos with these and a few taken with a little Yashica T-4 Super compact 35mm, with a retracting Zeiss lens. But I normally use at least a 50mm lens, and the best such I've used was a Zuiko (Olympus) 55mm Micro/Macro. It was great for closeups and worked fine as a normal lens. Alas, I had to sell it and other things to move on short notice when the ex let me have the kids and we needed a better school district. I replaced the OM-1n, but couldn't afford the Micro lens. I hate fooling with screw-on lenses for closeup work.

I really need to "go digital." I just don't take many photos now. The ones in this topic are impressive.

I don't use a super cell phone, but the keys are so small on many, they must be hard to use. As an author typing in Word, I can tell you, the spellchecker leaves much to be desired. In particular, it isn't programmed to use many gun or knife words, unless I add them to its memory. Ditto for foreign words, although that's logical.

Sarah-

What sort of things go into tapas? And are tortillas known there, or just from Mexico? I think their origin was with Mexican Indians.

I've never been to a Spanish restaurant. We don't have them here. (Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area.)
