NRA Pushing back :)

I love this add makes me proud. The NRA should run this add on all TV channels .Our 2nd amendment rights should not be infringed. We all need to continue to write and call all of our politicians and tell them not go along with any gun bans and magazine bans.

With the last ad, they bought some time on the Outdoor Channel, I believe, and then let all the news programs talk about it and play it over and over again for free. It's cheaper that way!

The problem with playing add's like that on the outdoor channel is that it is primarily made up of viewers who hunt and own guns and support the 2A. While I really like the video we and those who watch the outdoor channel are not the ones who have to have this point driven home to them. Buying air time on the outdoor channel is a big waste of money IMO. They need to target a different audience. Not that broadcasting on the OWN nextwork would be of any use either but they have to find the middle ground of where to target those who need more exposure to what the 2A is really about.

You have to run this message on channels where most people watch, not just hunters. Otherwise, it is utterly useless!

But it might also help motivate the hunters and shooters out there to start being more proactive and donate or wtite letters and make calls.

Yes I agree it may motivate others to get involved more who already support hunting, guns and the 2A and I agree that it is free air play if other news networks pick it up but two points about that.

1. They will probably not play the whole add in its entirety

2. They still need to target more then just viewers on the outdoor channel banking on the fact it will motivate more to get involved and it will get some air play on other news outlets. They need to make a concerted effort to shows these types of adds on other major networks. Honestly If I were to donate money and then only see adds like that run on the outdoor network I would not see it as the best use of my donation.

There is a lot of middle ground as far as people who are not on one decided side or the other of this debate. So while we let the media demonize guns by those pushing gun control that is the image they are going to go with b/c that is all they are seeing. The ill informed need exposure to the other side of this topic, not just the one sided stance from our government officials.

Ok, look, I have no control over what the NRA does with their advertising dollars. Of course the ad needs to reach the general public. They did reach the general public with the last ad without spending the big bucks. That last ad got played over and over again in its entirety on the network news and all the 24 hour news channels for free. They got tremendous coverage and just paid for the Outdoor Channel. I thought that was pretty smart, actually. And I have no idea why you are getting mad at me over it.

Companies such as Comcast refuse to run gun related ads. Do you think the big three plus CNN are going to run these ads.

Of course the Big 3... are NEVER going to run PRO GUN or 2A ads.... that would be like asking for some refreshing icewater in hell.!!!!!

There are other ways to reach out to the public other then via the outdoor network. Whens the last time someone clicked on a youtube video w/ out an add attached to it? Radio is a good way of advertising. I realize that not out outlets are willing to broadcast or run NRA or pro gun adds but there are other options out there other then just the outdoor network. Not that it is a bad idea entirely since as some mentioned it did have success last time but they also need to keep pushing and searching for other ways to get the message out.

The add needs to be played on the old guard media NBC CBS ABC, but we all know that wont happen even if NRA pays four times the going rate

And I am sure the NRA will do their best to get the message out to the public at large. Swaying the opinion of the public is the point of the ad. BTW, they do put videos on YouTube. I think they are showing quite a bit of success getting the message out considering what they are up against.

Thats good that they are using other methods. My only concern was that they were only using the Outdoor network. They are indeed up against a lot as far as this entire thing goes but they are also a large and powerful organization, I just hope they use the power they do have in the best possible way.

It's a very well made ad. I did see it on Fox News, but I highly doubt any of the lamestream media will show it.
