I looked at a 617-1 4" at my. LGS. It's in vg to ex condition. $600 out the door. I have it on hold. Is this a good buy?

What kind of grips? It's a good price. Especially now. Also, the 10 shot version while popular, is not as good looking or as "classic" in the opinion of many.

Yes, it's a good buy. I believe the original grips would have been Hogue rubber.

Yes, you can shoot longer, but 6 shots are traditional and for training purposes gives a more realistic environment when compared to traditional centerfire models of similar size.
Buy it and enjoy it, it's one of the best looking and shooting modern .22lr revolvers you can find (except the blued version, the M17-6 or even better the M17-7).

Wise move putting it on hold. Now get in there and finish the deal! The best price I have seen on a new one is $670 and that was before the insanity started. Plus a -1 will not have a lock, thereby making it worth a few extra bucks. The 4" versions are a little more difficult to find than the 6", and in my opinion the 4" balances better than the 6". There is no downside to this gun.

Yes buy it. You will not find a better deal so don't be that guy. I bought my 4" 617-1 with combat wood grips for $600 and it was d & t, square butt. Good luck finding another and 22 ammo if you don't have any.
