I liked this stock from the first time I saw it. I got my name on the waiting list. They emailed me with instructions to call to get one of the first ones issued. So I did. And they had DPRC compliant 30/10 Pmags in stock so I order them too.

There is a buffer tube cover with cheek riser that is on the way from the factory as soon as they get them in.

I like the look as it is completely unique and different (fits my personality). Although removing the forward grip and having the stock means I don't need a bullet button here in the DPRC that isn't why I bought it....I thought it looked awesome.

It is very comfortable with the pull the same as a fully extended traditional retractable stock. Can't wait for the buffer tube cover to arrive but I will probably take it to the range before that.

Well, count me as a yuk. How long do you think it will be before your state legislators will be moving to make that stock illegal as well if it becomes a popular way around the other limitations the AR-15 has in California?

The current pending legislation goes well beyond banning a specific stock. It's redefining what a fixed mag is (no more bullet button exemption) and requires only a single cosmetic feature to classify the magazine-fed semiauto rifle as an assault weapon.

One of these features is a barrel shroud:
A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning the bearer's hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel.
...or what we all would call a handguard.

So, in order to build a featureless rifle, and avoid the assault weapons classification, you'll need to eliminate the telescoping stock, pistol grip, flash hider, grenade/flare launcher, forward grip, and hand guard. That's what I would call a "yuck" looking rifle. :(

But here is where I am a bit strange. I didn't buy it to "comply-with-Fi" or any other law or regulation. I bought it because I thought it was such a different look that I wanted it. I am funny that way with no apologies.

The current proposals from Ms Feinstein would preclude me doing anything to make my M&P 15 legal. It is specifically named here her list of banned books...I mean weapons. I suppose I could by a stripped lower with no branding on it, move all the parts over, replace the barrel and any other S&W branded pieces and THEN put the featureless stuff on it.

Based on what I'm reading now I don't think we will have to worry about it if the political winds continue to blow the way they are. But I worry more about the state laws which are more incredible in their composition.

I should have been clearer in my last post to say pending California legislation. I don't think the DiFi federal bill has any chance of passing, but I fear our only chance of defeating the CA legislation's quest for outright gun banishment will be through court challenges.

BTW I'm also on the waiting list for that stock, although at this point I don't know if I'll go through with the purchase when I finally get their email notice. I've already spent too much on new reloading gear the past two months. :)

So, if someone could take the AR-7 design and make it fire 5.56mm, could that pass CA laws and avoid the assault rifle tag?

I am curious to see the number of "yuks" that this thing will elicit. But like I said it fits my non-conforming personality.

I LIKE THAT "THING" TOO !!! It's so darn ugly,it's beautiful.

Saw a post about this awhile back. And I do really like it. The missing pad also does help the look some. Let us know how it shoots. I plan on getting one when the eventually get caught up. I'd also like knowing how sturdy the mount is replacing the handgrip. That'd go good on the new 1in9 Sport.

Now THAT'S a horse of a different color. I don't think I would want one, but I'd like to shoot it. I'll bet its comfortable!

The people that designed it took it to those same State Legislators as they were designing it and got aproval as they went.

Do a little home work. It's interesting...

At this point there's no limit to the CA legislature's idiocy so who knows. They've already outright said that they have to have to one-up NY to have the most restrictive gun laws in the country.

:(

That just highlights the stupidity of the gun control argument. Same rifle, same action, just ugly stock. They probably thought it was so ugly that no one would buy it! :D

Looks like we are neighbors! The only saving grace now is that a Dem senator resigned and they lost their supermajority. The latest front is "no lead bullets". Gotta protect the Condor you know. Funny that lead poisoning was never an issue (hard alloy lead doesn't absorb) until after CT shooting....

If you ever are headed up to Los Altos Range let me know.

It appears to me to be a way to attach a stock to an AR-15 "pistol." And that would be very illegal, converting it into a short-barreled rifle unless duly registered.

Just injecting a few words of caution here.

I also think it's a solution in search of a problem. JMHO.

Yeah, I was reading about the dems losing the supermajority...at least until they can fill the vacant spots with more dems. :(

Anyway, same to you if you're ever planning on shooting up at Chabot...although Los Altos' tin can range is something that Chabot doesn't offer.

No, they don't think it matters because they are planning to ban the rifle its attached to. I feel for you California residents, beautiful state being destroyed by liberal political ambitions.

Well, I want one, dont have a clue why, I just like the ergonomic styling, I like the way it does totally change the look of the rifle.
So how does this barrel shroud work, if it completely encloses the barrel, My mini 14 has a wood stock on the bottom half and a metal upper, neither one completely surround the barrel but between the two they do, but part of the operating system is under there also. Like the gas tube is under a handguard, not just the barrel
Therefore on the Mini, the wood keeps me from burning my hand, on the Sport where the gas tube is also under the handguard it also keeps me from burning myself. Do we need to make an handguard that doesnt completely encircle the barrel.

How does your trigger finger lay? Is it comfortable and is the rifle controllable with this set up?

Well the current DiFi AWB defines the shroud as anything that covers the barrel that isn't part of the stock which can protrude along the bottom 1/2 of the barrel. Burned hands are no problem for DiFi as long as the cosmetic nature of the accessories don't look mean... :)

I haven't shot this yet. I'm preparing the workshop for the reloading equipment thus I didn't get to the range today. The trigger finger fit for me is quite nice but I have a fairly long fingers which makes me normally use a larger than normal grip. It feels pretty sweet to be honest. Totally different than the standard grip setup. Notice the ring that is an intregral part of the stock. Perfect positioning on tactical sling...way cool.
