Peta Looking To Buy Drones?

Jesse Jackson claims that AR15's can down a passenger airliner...
Maybe it'll work on a teeny tiny little drone :-P

I'm going to guess we should all calm down. My guess is that its illegal to shoot at any flying machine. Manned or unmanned. Its also against the law to drop anything from even a model airplane. We had a comment to that effect recently. So the best advice is to not shoot where you could be seen. :) I'd advise larger shot sizes because they'll do more damage at range that might be pretty long. Lets try #2 for fun, or even BB.

that would not be entirely correct.
you may drop inert ordnance from a model airplane ... its a little frowned upon but not illegal. its when the egg really is napalm or other active types that legal sparks start to fly.
can you shoot them down ...
I dont see why not to be honest. in fact, if Im right about the intent given the type they are after, we may be forced to legal or not.
do you have any idea what a prop can DO to you?
a friend put his hand through the prop of a 15 at idle when trying to tune it ... it was an ER visit .. at full song that 15 can kill. Its about a half horse at 16k rpm ... last I checked they go all the way up to 150 before getting into multi cylinder.
Electric is equally deadly, as such these things can be used as weapons

It is a very good question though, you are shooting into US Airspace which could be considered as endangerment of general aviation

Referring to FAR/AIM you can drop items from the airplane as long as they do not cause personal or property damage, it is the pilots responsability

In Louisiana, it is a felon to harass or stalk hunters or in any way, interefere with hunters in the field.

If PETA employs drones here, they stand to have the drone confiscated and be facing felony charges.
That's if they're caught north of I-10. If they get caught south it's gonna be a lot worse  :D

A few years back when they has a big fishing rodeo in St. Bernard Parish the PETA people were going to protest by spiking the boat ramps and doing other stuff. The officials had to pull them aside and explain that if they followed trough their plan the authorities could not guarantee they could protect them:eek: like in "there's a lot of marsh and alligators out there......." One thing good about our legislature, they are quick to pass some great knee jerk legislation when it comes to out hunting, fishing and firearms :D
