About a month ago I bought a M&P .22 pistol from a CA gun shop.
The model # on the box was 122002 CA compliant but the gun I got was not compliant, it had a threaded barrel model # 122000.
So, I take it back to the shop and showed them it wasn't compliant.
They took it back and said they would get a new M&P at no extra charge.

About 3 days later the DOJ calls me and asks why left the store with the gun?
I gave them the into that was printed on the box.
***, I did right thing and returned it knowing it was illegal.
The DOJ are a bunch of idiots.

I know it's their job, but that's ridiculous.. I hate our present CA gun laws.. They'll only get worse.

Just doing the job they're required to do. You, likewise, did the right thing. In the end, it is every gun owner's responsibility to make sure they are in compliance. Your dealer, should have known what they had was not compliant in your state.

If you still need an M&P22, we have them in stock. Your dealership can send me the non-compliant one (assuming it hasn't been shot) and I'll send them one that is.

I think the DOJ should of called the store and not me.
Thanks but, S&W already sent one out friday.

I hate them too. Thank god I only have to put up with them for 2 more years. I'll be moving to our Silver Springs house when I fully retire.

S&W sent a new CA. M&P 22 with my name on it to my LGS today.
I'll pick it up in 10 days.

They are making you wait another 10 days? That's crazy, the whole situation in CA is *****.

Yep, I have to wait 10 days. If you buy a gun here and don't pick it up within 30 days you have to do everything over again...

If it were me I would have just kept the gun. You're not a killer and weren't going to use the gun for anything illegal. The store would have sent the DOJ the number that was for the compliant gun and no one would have come looking for you.

You did nothing wrong. It was only by returning it that the DOJ got involved.

For the record, yes, CA laws suck.

Well, the people of Kalifornia will certainly be safer now that an M&P22 with a threaded barrel is off the streets.

New member here. All I can say is "thank god I finally left that idiot state". Believe it or not at one time it was a nice place to live.

We moved to Fallon (30 miles from Silver Springs) nearly 8 years ago from Sacramento and have ZERO regrets................except possibly the cold freaking winters.

CA is not the only state that is anti-gun friendly. CT, MA, NJ and NY are just as bad (I cant believe CO) joined either. Those (people) on the left coast have been causing problems for too many years. You would think they would have better things on their agenda than to 'harass' law abiding citizens and make ridiculous laws but allow the growing and selling of MJ? ***?

Please add MD to that list. Our governor just passed moronic gun laws that will do nothing but make it harder for law abiding gun owners to buy, keep and train with firearms. Worse yet , I believe he knows it will make no difference but has national political aspirations even though that is the kiss of death for a politician in a national election. Ask Pres Obama how well that works nationally. Couldn't happen to a bigger posterior. We've had a tax, fee or surcharge increase every month or so since his election.

Wannanother reason "universal background checks" are flawed. Maryland SP checks have mushroomed from the 7 days it took to well over 10 to 12 weeks and the next purchase must be picked up at least 30 days from the last. That can put the limit from one a month to one every 3 to 4 months. Maybe I'm being pessimistic. It's not like governments use tactics and delays to institute controls they want but aren't allowed for in the original statute, right?

I'm sure the poster wasn't coming to MD as our burg is Silver Spring and not Silver Springs. Ironically my LGS is in Silver Spring. Atlantic Guns.

Greetings from the People's Collective of Maryland

I finally picked up my Ca. legal M&P 22 today. I forgot about it until my LGS called me today and said I had one day to get it or I'd have to do the paper work over again and pay $25.
Ca. law requires you to pick up your gun within 31 days or start everything over and wait 10 more days.
