I'll try to make a short story of this.
Moms been thinking about a new puppy for
a couple years now for some companionship.
"Pops" passed in Feb. 2010 and i thought it
would be good for her as well to have a new
lap buddy. Looked in the local Sunday paper
and (Eureka) a fella about an hour away had
some Black and Tan Dachsunds for sale at a very
reasonable price so gave him a call and off we went
with Mom, my wife and my nieces 6 year old.
Now my grandpaw (on moms side) used to raise
Dachsunds and so we've always had them as pets
ever since i can remember. A good and loyal little
house dog that can believe at times it is as mean
and big as a Doberman. They we're bred to hunt
Badgers originally and go down the burrows after
them so they have some good hunting instincts
ingrained in the breed.
Well we got to the breeders today and he had 2 females
left that we're 8 weeks old and ready for a new home.
Mom picked out the one she wanted and myself and
the wife could'nt bear the thought of the litter mate
being alone so........
Here's "Lucy".... A Dappled female.. Makes 4 for us.
Arghhhhh the Vet is gonna love me even more now.

What a Cutie! Looks like you've got a friend for life there. We had a couple of long haired Dachsunds when I was growing up. The male was named Otto & he was a good buddy. Later we got the female, Tinkerbelle. My Mom named all the pets, by the way! Tinkie was the runt of her litter, but she was absolutely fearless. She grew up in a stables so big animals didn't scare her at all. I once watched her face down a couple of Sheperds! She was a huge dog in a pint sized container.

Hmmmm, playtime. This post also brings back memories of a time in the Bronx, when I saw someone with what appeared to be a miniature Great Dane. Upon inquiring, the lady said it was a chihuahua/Great Dane mix, and the father was a Chihuahua. Well, to this day I've often pondered the possibility of that one happening, not sure that it really did. Anyway, here's a stock foto for scale; you tell me if that's possible.

Looks a lot more like a snack than a love connection!

Where there's a will...never underestimate the determination of a small dog in lust. One of my neighbors has a horny little Pomeranian--he's neutered, but it doesn't seem to matter--who will attempt relations with architecture. He thinks if he could catch a train he could impregnate it.

Maybe the Chihuahua stood on a chair...:D

Wife and I keep talking ourselves OUT of getting a 4th dog... keep seeing cute ones that need a home, and we got the space, just unfortunately not enough time for a new puppy.

That's a real cute dachsund, that coloring always looks neat!
