I "survived"
National Ice Cream Day with a double scoop of pistachio in a waffle cone on a evening Sunday date with Mrs. Koz. Yesterday I celebrated National Hot Dog Day by treating my crew to lunch at a local hot dog joint. And followed it up by grilling some hots for dinner last night. So naturally when I heard today was "National Tequila Day" I had to do my part in a proper observance.
I walked into my favorite lunch spot and made my way to my usual luncheon seat at the bar. The barkeep grabbed a tall glass and started to serve me my usual iced tea (I never drink at lunch...you know, unless there's a "special" occasion). I stopped her in mid-stride and informed her and the other regulars that today is in fact National Tequila Day. Of course one of the skeptics had to Google it....Can you image not believing me? The nerve!
I then proceeded to order a margarita (no salt). It was like if Norm at Cheers had ordered a coke. My ears popped as all of the patrons', wait-staffs' and bartender's jaws collectively hit the floor. I gave her an affirmative nod as she looked at me to confirm what she had just heard. Still shaking her head in bewilderment, she then went about concocting my cocktail.
"Jenn" set down a typical wide-rimmed tall cocktail glass filled to the top and also a shaker that was 3/4 full for me to, um..."enjoy"
I'm not a margarita (or Tequila) kinda guy but, I'm willing to try anything. This was actually quite good.
As I'm not a quitter, I had to stay long after my tuna sandwich was gone and finish both the contents in the glass and the couple of refills provided by the accompanying shaker.
I went back to my office and actually did about an hour of constructive work (I hope)
and then thought it time to head south towards home. I got home and took a quick power nap and now I'm as fresh as a daisy.
I think I'll inform Lady Koz that we need to celebrate National Tequila Day and go out for an after dinner margarita date.
Anyone know when National Scotch Day is?
