Any new LASIK

I have started to buy my RX glasses from online and for about two years now . I am very pleased with the service and function. You will not believe how much cheaper they are and I cannot tell one iota difference between them and the local store.Wait I can tell this the local place didn`t have anything strong/HD enough to stand up to my rough use. I wear my glasses on a string around my neck and they are constantly snagging on things and used to be always breaking, not so now.If your interested send me a private EM and I`ll tell you the two online stores iv`e dealt with.

Anyone had LASIK surgery recently?
I'm about burned out on payin the price for new glasses. (polarized bifocals cost 350, just lenses, and don't last much more than a year!)

Feel your pain on the polarized bifocals -If my wife ever found out what I paid for mine she would cut a body part off
As far as them lasting more than a year I clean mine with that hand sanitizer in the squirt bottle -the alcohol in the jell does a good job of cleaning off the salt, body oils , sun screen and other crud without scratching the lenses. Rinse with hot water and then gently wipe dry with an old tee shirt. use an old worn out tooth brush to get around the hardware. Mine are going on 6 years and the lenses are still good.

I forgot to say I had Lasik about 15 years ago and I am not pleased with the result. I still have to wear reading glasses cause I cant see anything well in closeer than arms length, and my shooting is a real problem. The Eye Doc suggested doing one eye for far and the other for close. It all happened quickly and we ended up doing my right eye-the master eye for distance and my left one for near. This was exactly backwards and WRONG has been a major problem ever since. When I try to focus on the front sight I see three of them and have to guess which one is the right one. Think twice before jumping into something as serious as your eyesight I sure wish I had!!!

I bought my last set of glasses at Costco. Good selection, good service. My glasses last longer than a year. Make sure you use those micro fiber cleaning cloths and not paper or cotton towels.

I'm not a candidate for Lasix because of my astigmatism. Too bad, because I'd go for it in a minute if I could.

The technology keeps advancing and people seem to be getting really good results these days.

Exact same thing happened to me....I still need reading glasses and shooting sucks...have to use my left eye now....wish I had known I could choose which one was for far and which one was for near...:(

I had my LASIK done on January 25th. Im 29, and have great close up vision, but couldnt even see the big E on the chart at a distance.

My eyes are now dry and more sensitive to light, but my vision is 20/15 (better than 20/20). My night vision is a little worse, as the surgery seems to gives lights a halo and star effect at night. I am able to tolerate it though.

Had Lasik done back in 2000. Best thing I EVER did. I had to wear glasses from the moment I got out of bed until I went back to bed. I was 20/200, had astigmatism, and went from bi-focals, to wearing progressive lenses. The doctor told me I would need to wear reading glasses after the surgery, but I figured that was a small portion of my waking hours. After 13 years, I am still only using 1.25 readers that I buy from Sam's in six packs for under $20. It's really nice not to need glasses when swimming. And I can finally wear a good pair of wraparound sunglasses on my motorcycle rides. At last check I was still at 20/20. And I'm now almost 63.

The dryness can last for up to a year. Use artificial tears to reduce the symptoms. Stars and halos are also a possibility, but I didn't notice any difference after the surgery.

My wife had her Lasik a few years after mine, and the technology had improved so much, that she could see perfectly the next day. It took me three days to feel comfortable driving a car, but she was back to work the next afternoon.

I don't have the issues with shooting, however my wife does (shorter arms). She has a specially made pair of shooting glasses with the 'reader' put on the upper part of the lenses (common for pilots who often need to look up at the overhead consoles).

I had it done in 2009 in a German hospital. Worked out great, I can't complain.
Your eyes will be sensitive to daylight and run dry the first couple weeks but eventually is is gone.
Nothing better then waking up in the morning and seeing perfect without glasses

Lasik in 1997...wonderful! However, as my eyes have aged, I had to resort to reading glasses. Doc said lasik changes the shape of the cornea, which has no bearing on the muscles that focus your eye that wear out with age. In other words, lasik can't stop the progress of time.

I had PRK, similar to LASIK w/o the flap, a year and a half ago. Downfall is it's a 6 week heal time instead a week or less. My corneas were too thin for the flap. IMHO, it's the best money I've ever spent! I feel for the guys who did the bi-focal deal with their LASIK. That really isn't the proper use of the technology. LASIK and PRK re-shape your eyeball to maximize the effectiveness of the lens. If you're into bi or tri focal glasses, that's because your lenses are not as flexible and capable of the focus adjustment as they were when you were younger. Shoulda had botth eye's corrected properly and accepted the fact you'd still need reading glasses. Of course, you would need a doctor to be honest with you and I get the impression there are quite a few vision centers that are willing to sell you what you want rather than tell you the 100% truth about the procedure.

In my case I wished I had never done it. Now blind in one eye other is fixed for distance.....and it went bad two years after the fact. Forget the name of problem but one of two known cases out 16K that the same doctor did. Life sucks loosing vision in one eye.
I jumped in for the same reason. I was spending $1K a year on glasses getting broken blown off due to work related stuff. Much cheeper to just buy readers and regular sun glasses. I was short sighted. Good luck.

My brother had LASIK done, about 2 years ago so far so good. I have been toying with the idea but havent really gotten serious with it yet.

I had LASIK done in 2004 with excellent results. I also shopped around first and went to the best doctor in the area (and also one of the best in the country) and paid what was probably top dollar. I did not feel comfortable with the places that advertised heavily with the old "$999 per eye" routine.
Fast forward to this year. I'm also 9 years older. I went to the same doctor who did the LASIK. This time he recommended the PRK procedure. The LASIK was relatively painless and recovery time very quick. The PRK ? OUCH that hurt. Pain killers and numbing drops got me through the first couple of days. As others have mentioned, recovery time can be 2-3 months for your vision to stabilize, maybe even 6 months. Dry eyes and night vision can be a problem. All of that being said, I'm a few months into it and doing well. Went shooting for the first time about a month ago with no problems. The percentage of people who have problems is very small, like all surgeries. There is a risk. Talk to several doctors, try to get referrals, and if you aren't comfortable with everything don't do it. Hundreds of thousands if not millions of people have it done every year and the vast majority have success. There is a chance that you may need "an adjustment" after a few months and good doctors will do this free of charge. The mapping technology and precision of the lasers gets better every year, so make sure your doctor is the best you can find. It's not something that you want to have done by a bargain clinic.

If you can see with glasses I would recomended you stay with them until you cant see. I am recovering from a catarac surgery, had to do twice in the same eye and have new glasses and cant see very well at all, mine did not work out very well, you get that sometimes but I will never gamble with my left eye as its the only one that works. Jeff

I'm sorry to hear this. I hate the thought of anyone getting near my eyes with anything sharp! On the other hand, my sister had both of her cataracts removed over the past few weeks. She's worn glasses since she was 8 years old and is amazed at how good she can see now.

So far I'm cataract free, but then again she's my older sister. ;)

Maybe over time your eyesight will improve.

just had lasik done 5 weeks ago. So far, I am pleased. The eye doctor was straight up, and told me that I would need "readers" for up close. Since I already had to have reading glasses, this was not an issue.

I do not see as well at night yet, as I did before with contacts. There is a little "halo" effect, but its not too bad. Also, I can't seem to focus as quick at night time.

I can't begin to describe how nice it is, to be able to wake up in the middle of the night and actually see what time it is from across the room !

Best thing to do if you thinking of Lasik, find a REPUTABLE eye surgeon. Ask for references. Do your research. Do NOT use the doctors that offer these cheap specials.

Think long and hard when considering LASIK....I had it 10 years ago and it was great...For about 7 years as my eyes got older the lasik doesn't change, that all of a sudden makes what I thought was a great proceedure a little less great...Of course I'm getting older and for years had 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other I was spoiled....Nature has it's own rules....darn it !!!

I was 20/600+ in both eyes. I had to wait for the technology to advance beyond the point it was approved for eyes as bad as mine. This was about 10 years ago. I had them both adjusted for distance vision, not wanting the "monovision" affect. Last checkup I was 20/15 and the Dr. thought that I would have changed by now. Probably the cataracts are working in my favor for now. I was 20/20 the next day but had night halos around headlights and street lights for about 6 months and dry eyes for several months, as well. I wore reading glasses before and used the same glasses for several years after.

My Dr. had me bring my handgun to the office and we worked out the right correction for me to get a good clear front sight and still see the target. I have shooting glasses set up for my right eye to correct to the front sight, and the left eye is no correction. It works for me as I have always had to close the left eye to shoot with the right eye, being extremely right eye dominant.

My experience has been absolutely great, and I hurt to hear about those who have a bad experience. I would think that the technology has advanced significantly in the last 10 years.

PRK is fun, isn't it? LOL My doctor told me after that fact that if he told me the whole truth, he figured I wouldn't go through with it! Hahaha, still, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
