I thing all the ammo flippers are going to be stuck with a lot of high price ammo very soon. My 2 local Walmarts and 3 LGS now have ammo lasting all day. W/M has has .22LR in stock for the last 3 days in 225, 333, 555, and the M-22 1K packs have been on the shelf since Tuesday, and manager said he is seeing ammo shipments daily. He also said there have been no waiters in morning at 7:00 am.

Was at the LGS yesterday - stock full of ammo - so much that I didn't buy any because I thought the prices were a "bit" high - but not ridiculous - much better than internet prices, even without shipping. Example: 600 rnd "bonus" case UMC 45ACP @ $275 - about $23/box. Today I got an e-mail from them saying they have a full stock of ammo - 9mm & 22lr included.

I was able to buy .45's and jhp 9mm from Aim surplus..38 specials from Target sports and Dick's recently.
While prices are up there, at least I was finally able to find and buy in quantity recently.

No large amount of ammo here yet still hit and miss, but have been getting decent deals on the internet when I wait for free shipping.

At worst ammo flippers will sell at what they paid or shoot themselves I'm sure they made their killing on the idiots out there that just had to have then and there.

BTW I've seen Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22 Threaded Barrel for less then $400 so firearms prices are coming down also.

Cheaper than dirt jacked prices to the level that slowed buying to the point they still had stock. It's basic supply and demand. Walmart did not do this and they ran out. This is how Walmart kills competition, buy undercutting the competition. Now people hate the guys that took steps to keep a balance and won't buy from them leaving Walmart closer to a monopoly. Price gouging would be jacking the price unreasonable on a necessity of life, not a luxury.5000 round of 22 don't count. Cheaper than dirt sponsors all the gun programs I like. I'll buy from them, just not things at stupid prices. I'll buy from Walmart, but I make sure to also buy from the lgs. I doubt any of us would want Walmart as the only choice out there.

Haven't actually been to WalMart in ages. Last time I was in the sales guy (He knows his stuff. Not your regular WM drone) tpld me the .22LR flippers were still lined up 2 hrs ahead of the shipment.

Local Big 5 gets it in fairly regularly. This week there was no usual lineup on ammo day.

I think with the pending legislation in California we're still in for a bumpy ride. The antis have figured out that the 2A doesn't cover ammo. Reloaders are on their radar now, too.

Over the past several weeks, I've noticed two things. The LGS in the area are starting to get ammo in quantity and at reasonable prices. The local shooters forum has more and more people trying to sell ammo, but are having to drop prices to do it.

Those that bought at peak figuring that there would be bans and they would make a killing lost the bet. Some are also now short of cash and have to sell no matter how much of a loss they take.

I've been to the CTD store and bought a few things. They won't ship anything firearm related to MA, so I don't buy from them unless I happen to be in Texas.

I was at the nearest WM super store a week or so ago and the cabinet had shotgun shells, hunting calibers, and a few random boxes of handgun ammo. I'll swing by there next time I'm in the area, but it's not a big priority for me.

The WM in my area is still sold out on everything! Not even a box of shot shells. Dicks gets a dribble of stuff in a few times a week but somehow I always seem to miss the .22 LR bricks by 10 minutes! Admittedly I am not desperate so I don't get there at the crack of dawn. Hopefully the late sleepers will get the opportunity to buy some soon.

.22 and (to a lesser extent) 9mm still scarce here, but Sportsman's has had .223 sitting on the shelf for more than a week, although at $11-$13 a box.

Roadtrip.:D

I got caught in "the great bourbon shortage of Hurricane Katrina." My good friend and fellow forum member Max and a little brown truck helped to alleviate that situation until the normal supply chain was back in working order. That taught me a lot. It taught me to load up on stuff that might be in short supply in the future, including ammo. Now I keep at least 3,000 rounds of ammo for every caliber I own and at least a case of bourbon in the 1.75 liter bottles. Same with beer and muscadine wine. I also have a good supply of non-ethenal gasoline, a generator, about six months supply of food and the ability to grow more. What I did when the ammo frenzy was going on, and it still is to some extent, is buy stuff at a good price when I found it and shot stuff at the range based on what I had plenty of. I've noticed the ammo coming back and I'll buy some more, but not at inflated prices. I'm not ever going to run out though because I've got friends that owe me money that have stuff buried in their yard.

I don't see anything around here when I pass by. GM has people bragging how they get 22, CCI standard vol., @ $5 a box of 50-- that is $50.00 a brick-- not a bargin in my book. JMHO--

Many calibers are holding stock in western Pa. except .22 LR and .22 Mag. Both rimfire rounds are still expensive and scarce. Of course nearly everybody in this area has multiple .22 rifles and pistols, so the lack of sustained inventory isn't that shocking.
