What's everyone's favorite speedloader and holder for IDPA use ?
Thinking about using a 686 .

Best: Jet Loaders.

A little more expensive than the second choice Comp IIIs but worth it being much easier to dis-assemble, mod, clean, work on.

The two big ones are the Safariland Comp III, and the Jet Loader. The Jet loader seems to me to be a little better built, and I have several of both.

Check this link for the best deal on a Jet Loader.

Revolver / Single Action : GrandMasters L.L.C., Gunsmithing, Ruger 10-22, AK-47, Ruger, AR-15, Ruger Accessories, Gunsmithing Tools and Gun Accessories

Power Custom has the best price I have found on Jet Loaders. Look down at the bottom of the page.

The Jet Loader is an even better choice when using a K Frame. They are smaller in diameter than a K Frame Comp III.

You need kydex belt carriers for them also.

Thanks Bob . Any grip clearance problems with the Jet Loaders ? They look big and I like to use the factory wood targets on my 686 .

While I shoot an L-Frame for IDPA SSR, I use Hogue stocks & Comp III's. However, since the K-Frame Target stocks added the speedloader relief cut in the mid-70's, if your grips are contemporary to the gun, you should have clearance enough.

JMHO - maybe someone with practical experience can chime in.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

Like Pizza Bob said they should not be a problem.
I have used S&W Combats on my 686-5 as well as Hogue Rubber grips. No clearance problem with either.

I must be the odd man out here as I still have no problems using HKS speedloaders in my K,L,& N frame Smiths....then again I even use leather holsters as well....

I have a pile of HKS speed loaders also. I really like HKS, but for matches using my 64 or 686 a Jet Loader or Comp III will be a little faster for most of us. I use several of the HKS speed loaders in matches for load and make ready however.

I am using HKS speed loaders for ICORE Rimfire at the moment. They are a bunch cheaper that any other 6 shot speed loader for the 22.

I would go with Jet Loaders for on the clock reloads, and HKS for Load and Make Ready. I am not using one, but a Safariland Loading Tray is not a bad plan either. They make reloading your speed loaders a snap.
