Question about M&P Shield

It seems like the flawless Shields were produced in 2012. Serial#'s like DXTxxx, DXExxx, etc... I'm fortunate enough to have one. I'd love to boast about my perfect Shield on that hypothetical thread.
Problem is, I'm considering getting a second Shield, as I love it so much, but I'm afraid to now knowing I might buy one with FTE issues.

Mine is a DXYxxx, but still no problems this way. The only problem i have is I can't talk myself into carrying any of my other ones lol.

Not angry at all, just highlighting points I believe a few have missed... you seem to be the one that's angry.. :)

You would be unhappy too if you bought 2 newer Shields with the same FTE problems that YOU claim don't exist:rolleyes:

Where are you coming up with I said "it doesn't exist". I simply am saying, because you are having problems does not mean everyone that owns one or is thinking about buying one has or is going to have a problem. The % of problems is miniscule and not indicative of the Shield overall.

In a nutshell, because I and many others point that out does not mean we don't sympathize or acknowledge your problem. I just believe in S&W and believe they will do what they have to do to make it right for you.

Yelling from the highest mountain over and over is not going to fix your problem, nor does it do anyone on this board a favor. Putting the fear into every thread related to a Shield is not fair to potential buyers or to S&W. You have a problem with your guns, we know that, we sympathize, we want to help.... I'm not the enemy.

Ok .. Sent back to S&W 3 times and still has the same problem proves to me that S&W has no clue what is wrong and doesn't seem to really care. Also after buying a brand spankin new one and it started doing the same thing at about the 400 round mark. I think it should put some fear into the buyers of the Shield 9s. Especially since S&W cannot fix the problem. If it was a fixable problem it might not be so bad, but till they find a fix, I sure as heck won't trust a Shield 9...

I have the. 9 mm. Absolutley love it. No issues at all. Best handgun that i own.

Decided to go ahead a buy a second Shield 9mm. Bought it earlier today at Palmetto State Armory at $359
Just checked their site tonight and both caliber Shields are now $399

9mm will let you get more rounds on target faster.

If you just WANT a 40 thats cool. Just know that handguns are not good weapons and 40 or even 45 arent magic.

I just got myself a LE S&W Shield9. I sold a rifle, made a buck and the Shields were in stock. I couldn't say no. It's a 9/17/13 manufactured gun, seems nicely made. Thin, stiff-to-rack slide, mags were easy to load and seat. I put 100 rounds thru it Monday. It's soft shooting, has a very nice trigger, was 100% reliable and very accurate. All shooting was done at 10 yards in an indoor range. Between the poor lighting and the distraction caused by spent casings bouncing all around the booth I was in, the gun was easy to keep in the black on a .22 bullseye target.

The original box label had some bar coding covered over with black magic marker and a new label applied, with LE on it and a new bar code. I wonder if it was involved in the recall, fixed and put back out as a LE gun.

I am not M&P fanatic, more of a skeptic, but couldn't be more pleased with this gun.

I've had my 9mm Shield for over a year and never had any issues. The gun is totally reliable. Great conceal carry and it's very accurate. You should read the stuff on the a XD site about the XDS in 9mm or 45 cal. They were all recalled for a safety issue and many haven't seen their pistol for several months. I'm sold on the Shield, it's very well made and as I said totally reliable.

I have a shield 40 and have had zero issues. I like the way it fits and yes, it is a little more "snappy" than I was used to, but it's a good gun.

i had both... only have the 9 now. first round on target, both the .40 and the 9mm are the same. however, follow ups are a different story. .40 is a snappy round. the 9 is not so sharp. full mag dumps at 21 ft. posted about a 5" group with the 9. the 40 opened up to about 9 or 10. both good enough for SD. the big diff came on the shot timer. i was about 1.5 seconds slower with the 40. that is why i only kept the 9.

I keep reading about getting back on target is quicker with the 9...... but I keep thinking that is great if you are running IDPA or whatever competitive shoot game... but in real life, I think I would want to make my first shot count.. if I do, there is no need for a second shot unless I am moving on to the next target. Of course there are double taps, which I practice when I practice, but when I do, as in much of my range time, I don't use the sights. I practice point and shoot as in reality, if a self defense situation were ever to occur, will I really have time to point, aim and shoot?

I'm just rambling.... but it's what I believe is the reality of why I buy most of my guns and practice. So, like I was taught in the beginning, point and shoot..... I only use the sights when I am trying to impress someone.... but I'm not very impressive...:)

Good points. This is why I decided on XS Big Dot with tritium for my second Shield.

I always question threads that have someone saying that they are having problems and "anyone that is thinking about buying one should beware". Trashing something on the Internet is valueless IMO. One could simply say I didn`t get a perfect one and working to get it fixed.

I have 5 Mercedes and never had a problem and a good friend purchased his first one and it spends much of it`s time in the shop.

I've no idea how many Shields S&W have sold but I`ll bet 10`s of thousands and I`ll bet there are some that are not working perfect but what manufactured product is. But I do know S&W will get it fixed.

I own 3 M&P's full sized and a compact and a 22lr. and will be buying my first Shield soon and I`ll be happy to do it.

Who's trashing it ?? I just find it kind of funny that I have two that both have the same problem and Smith & Wesson can not fix them so how am I trashing it!....by telling the truth?
I own two .40 shields the work perfectly so if you think I'm trashing them you didn't read the threads very well!

So you believe in 1 shot dead right there shots. Got it. Thats not reality.

Note to self, all Smith & Wesson's are made perfect and if they are not perfect ,Smith & Wesson will make them perfect. I guess all you guys love me now.
