There is currently a bank robbery in North Palm Beach. This picture was taken on scene by WPTV.

Why in the hell does our law enforcement try to look like a military unit?

@LEOs , is this a common practice at your PD?

That is as ridiculous as it can get! A wannabe that actually made it! I got a hunch he will get a invite to the chiefs office. If he don't the chief might be standing on the mayors carpet. Maybe the robbers might die laughing?

What if he needs to hide next to a car covered with grass?
Conversely....what if he needed to take position on a rooftop or behind a car...a white one perhaps?

..and yet we seem puzzled why the public has lost respect and trust in our LEOs

Three simple words...just plain stupid. And it ain't just the ghillie suit. Green camo all over the place on what looks like city PD? And what's with the mask the officer is wearing, afraid of the cameras? Or is he actually under cover???

They musta got a discount on military gear. I'm surprised they weren't driving a Humvee.....

No one is getting called anywhere. This isn't a small time police dpt. This is Palm Beach. Whatever they are using was a proved by the department to purchase not the individual. Big police departments issue gear.

You know that "entrance" device also known as C4 that was used by the police to level a block of Philadelphia in the 80s? Yea that too was ISSUED.

Well, if you got it, flaunt it. I have a couple of BBQ rigs that I never had guts to actualy wear. They never see day light.

Yes, made clear in the original post. Can't call it context at all -- no idea where the team members might have been coming from, what their original call was, what idiosyncratic issues the call might have involved, or what agency policy is under the given circumstances.

Virtually zero context.

Yes...perhaps they came from a previous call in the Glades, not only have the Burmese Pythons proliferated but now acquired firearms training and have taking to sniping at Airboat tourist rides.....Please.

Considering his choice of cover, Stormtrooper armor would probably have provided better concealment.

Didn't know that about the pythons -- thanks for the heads up. Wonder if "squeezing" the trigger comes natural to them...

Could you tell us a little more about what the original call was that the PD/sheriffs got? Not what the call ended up being, but what the first call was? Or what agency policy is regarding required tactics and gear when such a call is received?

Thanks in advance for squaring that up, long as you got this one zeroed.

All cop clothing serves a purpose. Maybe in Florida a need may arise for a gillie suit. It's not all concrete buildings. I'm positive the department has researched and learned from other incidents why such material is required. Maybe his cammo gear was being washed and all he had in the trunk was his gillie suit. Unless someone on this forum is a SWAT member of that specific department, we can only guess. Since my retirement from LE, I've noticed that most PD's are looking more like military troops. Even the vehicles they (SWAT) use. Probably hand-me-downs at a cheap price. Or, maybe it's the first step in a police state. :D Just kidding, let's not jump to bazaar conclusions.
