Good home made chocolate cake is a gift, and those who make it are gods. Apple pie, lemon mereinge pie, coconut pie, chocolate cream pie, banana cream pie, peanut butter pie, I love them all. Don't forget fried pies, apple, peach, blueberry, blackberry, lemon, apricot, and strawberry. I can't stop!

STOP!! I already gained 4 pounds since the beginning of this thread.

Anyone here like Schwartzwald (Black Forrest) cake? The best slice of cake I ever had (and I admit to having many over the years) was at a Bistro on the outskirts of Hamburg, Germany on Sat Sept 22nd? 2000 at approx 5:30 pm.

Gotta love it!

Admittedly, I was not fond the stylish green outfits we wore much of the day, but with a First Class Pass in my pocket all the time, our off duty forays into nearby Ulm, Deutschland, and more distant Hamburg often included stops where we would partake of these and similar goodies.

Oddly, I didn't bulk up so quickly back then.

Pie, please! The wife and I just got back from a few days spent at the Inn at Serenbe south of Atlanta. The Inn featured a chocolate pecan pie that was to die for. Love that southern cooking.

Make mine pie. Home made with equal instead of sugar. Kind of sugarless but not really.
Rhubarb was my favorite growing up with pecan a close second. Any filling except cherry, you know like apple, pear, peach, strawberry, blueberry, chocolate, banana cream...

Cake AND pie. I don't much care for white cake with coconut but pretty much every other kind of cake is good by me. My favorite cake is German chocolate cake and my favorite pie is my own made pumpkin pie. I haven't found a pie I don't like but no one yet has made a turnip pie.

The best slice of Cheesecake I had, was at a place near where 7th Army HQ is or was located in Heidelberg. I cant remember the name of that place either. However, I do remember Zum Rothsen Ochsen (The Red Ox) had the best Wienerschnitzel I had while vacationing in Germany. I cant wait to go back there.
