I have one, but have only had time to take it to the range one time. I enjoyed shooting it. I like to warm up at the range with something lighter, before moving on to other handguns. Feels good in the hand.

Louchia,
Think I had mine a little over two years now . I would have to check for sure. I have a few thousand rounds through it and it's a great gun.. Does need a good break in with some hot .22's in the 1280 fps velocity range.. But Mini Mags a "bit slower" by CCI work great in the gun.. After it's good and broke in it will shot most stranded loads too but I still stick with high Velocity rounds.. Fit and feel is good as any full size M&P more or less the same. Also IMO for a M&P it has one the the best triggers from the factory as the M&P .22 is an internal hammer fired gun not striker fired maybe that's why it has a nice trigger pull that only get's better with use.. Shoots to POA with ease.. Really a nice gun after you get past the fact that it's made By Walther for Smith & Wesson.. Still a nice addition and an affordable way to shoot with the same Buyer Lifetime warrenty. Sure bets a pellet gun for fun and training. I don't see how you can go wrong with one! Love mine and I been shooting for almost 40 years! If your thinking of any other Full size M&P it's just about the same size fit and feel like I said.. Nice gun nice shooter. Treat yourself life it just to short not to have a few things that can still make you happy! Be safe! George

I had two of 'em, gave one to the son in law. Fun plinker and trouble free. The only mods I've done to them were adding TFO sights and the Walther threaded barrel extension, and Pachmayr Glove grip cover. They're great to train with, or if you have someone with you that doesn't feel like shooting a centerfire pistol the MP22 is a great option.

Just picked mine up this week. Those safeties HAVE to go, but be sure to have a nice video guide if you end up removing them, since I messed it up (temporarily - all well now).

I really like it, but quite honesty I've no idea how anyone with larger hands shoots it without catching their thumbs on the safety. The recoil hurts, too, because of the safeties.

Thankfully they really are easy to remove. It's definitely a fun gun to shoot.

WillimanG,
I got big hands and have been a .45 1911 guy most of my life and have no issues with the safety levers on the M&P 22.. Sorry I don't see how recoil can hurts from the M&P .22 it's .22 for Pete's sake because of the safety levers, there so rounded.. Does the recoil really hurt you? Guess I don't or can't understand because I don't have this issue with the gun. I find it a very pleasant gun to shoot all day long.. George

I have had one for about one year. I use the 22 to warm up and then shoot my 9C. The 22 has the same general ergonomics, though the recoil is significantly less. (:-

All-in-all, a fun pistol and good for training. The trigger barrel pin tends to ride out sometimes, but otherwise there have been no issues with it.

Did you paid to have the sights removed? If not what did you used?

I have 2 M&P .22s.

And as far as other M&Ps go...

Compact .40
Shield .40
9mm Pro
.45 Pro

Lots of fun. A great training gun for larger caliber M&Ps. Finding ammo is about the only "trouble" I've ever experienced, but gunbot.net solved that!

The recoil itself doesn't hurt. It's the recoil coupled with the safety slamming into my thumb. Of course this will be shooter dependent, but I shoot 2-handed, right thumb on top of left, parallel to the barrel. If my thumbs are under the safety I can't attain a high enough grip. If I rest my right thumb over the safety, the recoil hurts my thumb.

Again, I'm no stranger to recoil, but having that absolutely outrageously big safety lever on the side of the M&P .22 is just against the whole idea of ergonomics, and it's a shame. Quite frankly, if the safety weren't removable I'd never have bought it. THAT'S how much it bothers me!

I appreciate you have no trouble with it, and I'm glad for you since it was one fewer headaches you'll have with the gun. :)

M&P 9FS, 45FS and 22 (most recent). Very fun shooting. Just can't find ammo... All mine have the safety which I prefer.

Just remember, contrary to what several reviews say about the M&P .22, it's NOT a striker-fire pistol like the other M&Ps. So as a training pistol for the 9, .40, .45, it's not exactly the same. The trigger doesn't even feel anywhere near the same (to me). Less gritty etc. The .22 M&P is a hammer-fire pistol. Not a downside (to me actually an upside since the standard M&P triggers are not to my liking, which is why I sold my 9mm M&P).

I've only put 100 rounds down my new M&P .22, and I like what I see. I also like the 12-round magazines (I would like them more if I could find any for a reasonable price!).

Overall, it's a solid platform. You may want to replace the sights, though, since the factory ones are crapola! I have some Dawson Precision fiber optic sights coming in tomorrow.
