A couple of weeks ago I was the one of my local shops checking on the status of Glock 21 they have on consignment for me.

As I'm BSing with one of the guys I look down and see a S&W M&P 40 on display. Biggest mistake..... I asked to see it.

After I held it I had to have it. Two days later I went back and put a deposit on it. Picked it up yesterday and left work early today just to go the range. 100 rounds later and I'm wondering why I didn't get one sooner

My wife knows about the 1st one, but #2, or #3(that is on order) Not so much! (oops) This is in 13 months time.

NEVER, NEVER touch 1, sometimes just looking thru the glass is more than a man can handle..........

I feel sorry for you guys. I have a safe full of guns and my wife has the combination. I come home and say, "Well, I bought another gun" and she just rolls her eyes at me. If I ask her if I should get one, she just says, "Why not? You know you'll just kick yourself if you don't."

I make sure there's food in the pantry, clothes on our backs, a roof over our heads and she doesn't care about what I buy. I love my wife and y'all can't have her.

Tell the wife

My wife knows about all my purchases, but being married 45 years helps that situation. I've picked up 5 since 12/20/13, it really is an illness but boy is it fun.:D and I had a wonderful Christmas. :)Of course I don't order new ones I like the stuff up to around 1980. :)

I made that mistake, let the wife know........ now its hers, I had to go get another one for me!

My fiance used to care, then I got so many She doesn't even know the difference anymore. Basically made it clear it wasnt going to stop.

You guys ever read "Gun Running" by the great humorist writer Patrick F. McManus? It's a hoot, as are all his short stories.

this is the reason I haven't picked up an M&P since December...I do buy my pistols with my own money and don't have any left...:D

I have a buddy that I often see at the gun shop. I saw him two days in a row and he asked me what was up, was I following him? We laughed and I said "Yeah, your wife paid me to follow you." He said, " Whatever you do, tell her you saw me checking into a motel with a woman or something, just don't tell her you saw me at the gunshop!!" We got a good laugh about that. :)

Don't tell your wife.......women are not people like us.:D
Seriously I have been happily married long enough that my wife knows I am going to always buy guns out of enjoyment and not out of necessity. I rat hole money and buy them that way. I tend to buy a gun one a month and she will roll her eyes but knows she can shoot them and its a lifestyle. The big ticket guns over $2k she knows about because they are insured. For what the M&P guns are selling at, they are a great value. I am told their prices are going up ALOT this next year.

To my gal, all guns look the same so she thinks I've owned them for years. GARY

LOL. I learned all about that some years ago with cameras and lenses. They all were black, so, to her they all looked pretty much the same. When you get a new one, you just sorta keep it on the down low for awhile. If she happens to ask about one- "Oh, did you get a new such-and-such," you say "this old thing? I've had this for awhile."

So, I buy rifles with wood stocks and blue barrels, and black semi-auto pistols. She doesn't need to know many I have. :)

Congrats on the 40. They are great guns and feel much better than a Glock, at least to me. Buy her a M&P9 and she will probably forgive you. My wife has supported my gun hobby from the beginning and will even point out firearms she thinks I might be interested in. She has even bought my 9 Pro 5" for me and my Walther PPQ M1!

I generally buy 2 of every thing, saves me time, and I always have a fallback annv, B-day,I love you day, Christmas, New years , Easter, 4 of July.
