I picked up a 3913LS for the wife but she is a lefty.

I'm wondering if I can flip the magazine release to the other side?

Also, any help on how to get or find a way to have a decocker added on the other side too. I thought I saw somewhere someone saying getting the part related to a 6906.

Thanks for any advice and direction.

Sorry, the magazine release won't reverse. Couple of pictures.

But, if you can find a donor part getting an ambi safety is not a problem.

I have found that most of the time, using the tip of the first finger to press the release on such a pistol will work.

If you send it to the factory they may put the warning on the side about the decock. From what I've read lately on the forum, factory work may take a few months. BTW I haven't seen that member around for a while, but if you can PM him, maybe he can tell you the price on the mods. I sent in my CS9 in a few years ago for DAO conversion and with overnight shipping came out to 200$ even.

You may find someone on this forum with a non-LS/NL 3913 who desires the single sided safety and would trade for the ambi safety.

Post a wanted ad for a compact ambi safety, I have traded a non ambi safety for an ambi version on this forum, and yes, a 6906 ambi safety will work, the 6906 and 3913 share the same slide....also, i'm a lefty as well, and have always used the tip of my middle finger to drop my magazine out....

Have her try adapt to the gun. I fly RC airplanes using a mode 2 transmitter made to right handers, I've bowled for years with right handed bowling shoes, and I've adapted to the S&W 22A with it's slide stop and safety positioned to right handers. She should be able to make it work.

If it's a self-defense pistol, you don't want to "adapt" to it, you want it there for you without thinking about how do I get my finger in the right place. Find the part and get it installed for her. I'm LH as well and when they first came out I did a review for the magazine I was editing at the time and it was difficult to get that finger on the safety. But I really liked it and wish I'd bought it from S&W at the time.
