Been doing my research on personal defense rounds and I'm looking very seriously at Remington Golden Saber HPJ in 124 grain 9mm. Watched ballistic gel testing till my eyes bled, and I love the initial cavitation this round causes, plus the way the jacket "petals" upon expansion. My question is, has anyone used these with the SD9VE? I plan on testing a box before I buy, but if they don't feed the system well, I'll save my money and try something else.

I'm also curious as to what you guys use for PD rounds.

Winchester PDX1 124 Grain +P. If you do go with the golden saber I'd get the bonded version.

Didn't know the sd9ve could shoot +p but I'm really new to this stuff. So, while I'm at it, newb question: what does bonded mean?

Bonded means the bullet's jacket is bonded to the core of the bullet. Jacket separation is usually not a good thing in a self defense round.

One great big festering neon distraction

sd9 will shoot a +P but not +P+.

i use winchester ranger t series 147 gr JHP in my 9mm and the 180 gr in my .40

i have used sabers before with no issues. i have also used gold dots which i liked as well

the ranger and gold dots are something to look into :)

bonded is for shooting through objects. most law enforcement uses bonded ammo. its made to be able to go through car windows and other solid objects and still retain enough power to strike the target behind said barriers

I used them in my former SW9VE, they work just fine. I now have an SD and plan on using them in the new gun as well.

I've shot around 100 rounds of the golden sabers with no issues. Actually I've never had an issue with any ammo I've used in my SD9VE

Thanks guys. I plan on getting a box to shoot through next time I've got some disposable income.

My PD issues this round. Last time I did a LEOSA qual the range master gave me a 50 rnd box. I asked him if the ballistics were good.

He told me the docs at the ER asked "us" to change rounds as these did a lot of traumatic damage. Docs should learn what comments of this nature mean. Let me translate. Effective, stopping power. Very good ballistics and suitable for self defense.

That's a good recommendation if I've ever seen one. Got 2 boxes of fifty en route in the mail, will report upon shooting this weekend.
