Finally got up the nerve to paint my 15-22!

Well after owning this little guy for a few years I decided it was time to throw some paint on it. I went with rattle can because honestly, I'm a tinkerer and I didn't want to pay someone to cerakote my rifle. Here she is in all her earth-tone goodness! Questions, comments, critiques welcome!

You did an incredible job! How did you do it? Since some items (safety selector and mag release) aren't painted I take it you completely broke the rifle down?

Xo- thanks! Used rustoleum that's meant for plastics and finished with a couple coats of clearcoat

The mainevent- appreciate it! Stripped the lower and covered the barrel in a roll of paper under the handguard. A couple coats of different color browns and my car mesh trunk net. It was actually pretty easy!

Looks awesome. Getting the itch to do mine but I'm scared to do the upper and lower. Just dyed all the furniture with Rit pearl gray. Think Im gonna do a gray/silver/white/black on everything I can remove. Butt stock, grip, forgrip, rail covers, sights, mag, bad lever, red dot mount. Think I'm gonna use a laundry bag that you put dedicates in for a smaller snake skin pattern. Just need to get the nerve to actually do it. How come you didn't paint the mag?

great job, looks a little shiny, could use a shot of matte clear or is that just the lighting? never thought of a cargo net, chicken wire and here is a Bushmaster Predator i did in krylon with a mesh laundry bag.

Headcase- appreciate it! I didn't paint the mag because I like the contrast the black pieces offer with the camo.

Roadkill- thanks man, your rifle looks awesome! I hit it with a few coats of clear matte. I think it's the lighting, I have one of those flexible lamps and I pointed it right at it... Photography is definitely not my strong suit

What's the round hole/circle just in front of where the stock meets the lower? Mine doesn't have that and it almost looks like it's for a sling.

You're correct, it's an ambi push button sling swivel mount. Came standard on the magpul version, not sure about the others.
