If you were to put a picatinny on top of this handguard would it be flush or level with the rail already on the rifle? Also it would have to be the mid length in order to fit with the factory gas block correct?

I was thinking of getting a Troy free float but I'm not sure I shoot at a range where it would even matter.

I can answer the MOE length question and you are correct - it is a mid. This won't help your other question but, I installed two rails on mine - one on the bottom for a folding grip and another on the RH side for a green laser or flashlight. Hope some of that helped you. Good luck!

It does not matter if a rail fitted to a MOE is even with the rails on the receiver or not.

The top of the MOE is about even with the top of the receiver. Any rails mounted to the MOE would sit higher than that

Mid length is what's on mine and if you want a really good lite weight bipod mount, check out Impact Wepons Components. Works great, lite weight and you can run with your bipod off without a bunch of stuff on a bottom rail.

Just curious, what are you looking to mount on a top rail of a handguard?

Nothing really. Was thinking along the lines of some folding iron sights. I know the factory gas block stays with the MOE but I was really just curious.

I suspected somebody was thinking about sights. Because the MOE handguards shift around, any sights mounted to them will not hold zero, That's why I said height won't matter

That's cool. If you pick up the EoTech XPS2, the Magpul MBUS co-witness well with the reticle. The rear MBUS also folds conveniently under the EoTech G33.STS magnifier.
