Worshipbass12 said:...imo most criminals look for helpless victims not a guy who is in good shape and has a gun where he can get to it fast.
My personal feeling is that OC'ing a handgun is inviting trouble. Nobody needs to know you are carrying a gun on your person. LEO's and others with authority will feel a need to confront you, others with evil intentions will target you. .........
It's not that it will attract criminals. But, think like a bad guy for a moment. If you're going into a place to shoot some people, who are you going to shoot first? The guy with the gun. If you open carry, you become that target.
I'm not trying to convince you not to open carry. Just be aware of the possible complications involved.
And the gangbangers that want your gun, if they want it, they will get it.
Maybe if people would actually read all the post ya'll would have seen that i don't live in an urban area, i live in a rural area. And that i will only be oc to and from work. And i'm not trying to prove anything. It is the easiest on and off holster that i have, and it's comfortable. It is also perfectly legal, & i was actually in line this evening at the gas station behind a cop and he never said a word to me

S&W45Colt I live in metropolitan Atlanta, GA. Around here every county has a sheriff office, a police department, school resource officers that are not part of county police, every little municipality has their own police department. There are several colleges here, each with it's own public safety department. We have GSP, FBI, DHS, federal wildlife, GA Dept. of Natural Resources, USPS Postal Inspectors, district attorney investigators, and a ton or more of civilians legally carrying firearms. That does not include the criminal element illegally carrying firearms, or Justin Bieber who is currently house hunting here.
That is A LOT of firearms out in the general public at any given time. Why draw attention to yourself? I do not see the need to do so, but anybody that does want to should feel free to do so. I never said I thought LEO's were looking to shoot someone open carrying, it would look bad on a resume. An individual puts himself at risk as I feel that person is inviting conversation or confrontation.
I regularly see some young men open carrying handguns in north GA. People from out of town tend to be bothered by this, and call 911. A LEO will arrive and speak to them. Why the shops fail to post a "no weapons" sign is beyond me, but the managers have not done so. I have seen dozens of customers exit the grocery store, leaving behind several hundred dollars worth of groceries they intended to purchase, as they were frightened.
Not a comment on all LEO's, but a few are not wrapped very tight. They may not fail the selection process, or may fail and pay their own way through a POST academy. Then you have a problem.
As far as stopping a robbery in a store and your waving a gun around you are looking to get shot in a hurry. When we get there and see you guess who I will be aiming at?
I never said i was trying to stop a robbery or would be waving my gun around. But i am sure glad i don't live in your area because it's clear that ya'll have no respect for the law that you are sworn to uphold. And from your statements it would be a safe bet that you're one of the cops that doesn't like civilians to carry guns.

Why would you ASSUME he doesn't like civilians to carry a lawfully carried firearm? Why would a LEO in the gas line give you a second look friend? It's legal as you mentioned. Sounds to me that your looking for an issue and judging by your posts your one of those who may not care for law enforcement and are looking to make a statement by carrying. I know your type and I'm sure that you'll get your wish one fine day. You may not like the outcome so enjoy your open carry and statement making.
