For our friends in Connecticut.............

The government might make a video of an actual or fake arrest where the wife and kids are slammed to the ground and handcuffed and the weapons are smashed with a sledge while the citizen criminal is forced to watch. Then it will be shown on TV.

The gun haters are loving this. But what will their reactions be if in 20 years a group decides other parts of the Constitution are undeserving of protection? Maybe owning a computer or electronic devices might be viewed as tools of subversive people, like in N. Korea, and must be tightly controlled for the "safety of the people".

The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection announced Friday it had sent a letter to owners who had failed to register the items by a Jan. 1 deadline, part of last year's gun control law.

If there was no registration before this new law, how did they know who to send these letters to?

It continues to amaze me how gullible people are to simply give in to any demand made by a politician and the politicians who are naive enough to believe that being in elected office gives them this kind of authority.

My question is: where the hell are the police chiefs, sheriff's and others who should be standing up to this gestapo mentality? Why aren't they standing up for the constitutional rights of American Citizens rather than laying down and allowing citizens to take it up the *** from the damned politicians? If even one officer, deputy or national guardsman takes part in any raid or confiscation, they should all be ashamed of themselves and turn in their badges - because it's clear they don't stand to protect and defend the citizens of their state.

My crystal ball tells me nobody knows who has what and nobody is going to be rushing to disable or get rid of their banned stuff.
I'm likely going to face a similar problem in NJ if they succeed with the 10 round limit. I have 12 round 6906 mags, and for two rounds will be a felon??? Meanwhile over in Newark about 400 people were murdered last year and I can't have a gun to protect myself unless I can prove my life is in danger??? Hello, I live in a state where people are murdered every day. You will now be returned to your regularly scheduled forum topic.

Don't know about the "1,000's" referred to in the article BUT there were some 100+ magazines and some 100+ guns that owners sent in registration forms for, that didn't get to the police until AFTER Jan1.
These people tried to abide to the law() but either got the forms into the mail too late or the post office was slow in delivery. So now, the CSP are sitting there with forms stating that "I own this mag and/or this AR", and technically the forms are invalid(missed the deadline). Could be a day late or 3 days late, the CSP doesn't care, they have orders.
What to do??? They now know who these people are! Do they offer them a sort of amnesty?? NO, they're going after them.

They are probably watching events and biding time planning how to fight the state guvnuh-on this--just like in Colorado.

On the other hand and bad case scenario--maybe they are afraid of the guvnuh threatening to withhold their wages-like the creep threatened to do in Colorado.

Well, here's what I'm hearing "on the street" so to speak. Besides the 200+ I mentioned, the rest is a bluff/wishful thinking/scare tactic etc.
The CSP are making a general declaration, I doubt if anyone who hasn't already registered, and hasn't already divested themselves of a banned firearm, is going to worry about some proclamation.

Unfortunately I think the state has gotten themselves into a heckuva pickle on this one. If they do not act they will be screamed at by the gun grabbers who of course will be supported by the media. If they act they will end up making examples out of afew formerly law abiding persons, be applauded by the media who will probable not give the pro gun folk much if any air time. I really do not see how this will have a good ending for anyone, especially if there is any " incident " involving someone defending their constitutional rights as we know them.

I've been wondering the same thing. Does anyone know how this list was developed?

Yes CT has had a unofficial defacto registration since the 1990s.

When you purchased at an FFL or private sale handgun you needed to complete a DPS 3 form in four copies, the seller the buyer the state and local PD.

This system was never fully implemented or maintained. Things are incomplete and the records are not reliable.

Here is another example of how they are trying to now use this information.

In this state we can carry any gun on a permit, lend me one or borrow someones, no problem.
