Some of what does NOT bother me about these advertising ploy's used by some small ammo companies with the P+ 40 is that many of these pistol can also be bought in 357 sig and that round runs at what could be conceded a P+ and is based off a 40sw case dimensions. The 357sig is some 5 or 6000psi higher then a 40sw but has a better feed into the chamber. If a handgun is going to push the limits of a design they had better build it with a fully supported chamber and that's been a problem with a few makers from day one. The chamber gets undercut to aid feeding of the 40sw cartridge and theres the problem. Look at glocks barrel chamber changes or upgrades thru the years and you can find photos of the feed ramp to chamber changes for the better , below.
Much of the ammo out there today is loaded to lower performance levels than when first produced. Lots of bad QC out there over the last 5 or 6 years with the largest ammo makers with there cheaper lines of ammo too. WWB being one of them.
Seems like I have allways had a 40sw around with my current one a kahr tp40. I can fire ammo thru my kahr and take brass from a glock and sw and sig and find the kahr and sig brass have very little bulge in the brass . If you reload you need a bulge buster to straighten the brass back to factory specs. When I run used brass thru my bulge buster die and sort it in to two pile. Brass that been expanded heavily near the base and brass that breeze's thru the die so I have quality brass and light load plinker brass to reload or to salvage.
My carry ammo is a bit hotter than corbons. Underwood ammo loads to the max pressure and using modern powders it lets them make a faster cartridge that's safe BUT only in a full chambered pistol. My cc ammo is 155gr gold dot at 1302fps average. There 135gr is 1450fps. This brass will go thru the bulge buster dies darn near like a brand new starline brass case will.
There also some that think the best performance from a 40 is found in the 155gr and 165gr bullets and most problems and ka-booms are found with a 180gr.
10mm tends to be different as the cartridge feeds from a longer mag and with less cartridge angle as it feeds into the more supported chamber so ka-booms tend to happen less often.
