I think everyone should listen to his LGS. Why take the chance then I can go there and get it all, heck maybe I can get some .22, then sell it to his LGS so we both can make money.

Sorta like the guy who told me the Weatherby scope I was looking at would only fit a Weatherby rifle...which he had in stock. I didn't buy either a scope or rifle....don't like doing business with fools, idiots or thieves...when I can help it.

Did he suggest maybe you should buy your ammo from him, or someone HE recommends? Consider the BS flag tossed. WM sells the same ammo everybody else does & if he does not know that he certainly isn't a qualified or honest smith.

I hope those grades don't mean that you think reloads are bottom-of-the-barrel. Most competitive match shooters reload their own ammunition, because factory ammo isn't nearly as good as reloads. Not even factory "match" ammo can come as close to the accuracy that I can get by measuring every single charge and getting it down to the gnat's eyebrow.
Never meant to imply that if I did. I have heard/read that those in competition load their own for consistency and quality and fully agree.
I don't think that factory reload ammo is bad as I'm sure as Arik indicates these are explosives and not to be taken lightly. I'm sure they have to pass rigorous tests whether reloads or new.

Oh My!!! Just when you think you've heard it all.
Walmart sells cheaper because they buy in extra large quantities and negotiate contracts with the suppliers/manufacturers to buy a "minimum" quantity over a period of time for X number of dollars a unit. I've been shooting "Walmart ammo" for 30+ years and have never had any issues. It has put plenty of food on my table. That LGS needs to find another line of work. Maybe a used car salesman.

Just like the gunsmith told you about the bad ammo from Walmart..
I bought a large size bag of M&M the other day from Walmart.
My Doctor told me to watch my weight and I told him I had been eating to many M&M I bought from local Walmart store..
We agreed that I should watch the ones I eat.
Due to the fact they are making M&M faster now a days many of them are miss lettered and the ones that have a "W" have more calories in them.... locdriver...lol

Used to get my ammo from walmart (when they had some in stock) but recently I switched to Freedom Muntitions Remans. They have a retail store here in Houston that's just around the corner from my jobsite. Their reloads are a bit hotter than other factory stuff like WWB or Remington UMC but they all performed flawless in 9mm and .40 cal. Best bang for my buck IMO.

Another line he would do well at is.... politician. Incorrect information and can "misspeak" with the best of them. My mama gave me a whipping when I told a "misspeak" only she called it lying and said it was a sin. I have 400 rounds through my SD9VE, 300 of those rounds were the Walmart Winchester 115 Gr Whitebox ammo . It shoots a little dirty but my gun seems to love it. Tomorrow I'll be feeding it another 200 rounds of the WWB

There is no such thing as you mention. It was Winchester White Box 115gr, REGARDLESS of where you may have purchased it.

Possible but statements like the one he posted are not unheard of. There is a ton of misinformation out there, usually put out by people who still think the old way. By that I mean their gun knowledge peeked in 1950.
I've heard so much weird stuff that I wouldn't put it past this gun smith to believe about Walmart ammo.

I must agree with Kyle. First off: Walmart Ammo? That says NOTHING, means NOTHING.
Walmart is a Retailer... not an AMMO manufacturer. So which could this moron be referring? Winchester? Remington? S&B?, CCI? Plus about a half dozen other ammo manufacturers...
Your gun shop sells the exact same ammo at higher prices, PERIOD.
