Do people actually read threads/posts?

Maybe if folks would stop posting meaningless comments that add nothing to the discussion, then the rest of us would read all of the posts. Just posting with "+1" or "I agree" or other little tidbit that just wastes readers' time is less than worthless. Better a lurker than someone who posts but adds nothing of interest.

While I'm at it, I think old posts should be permanently deleted at some point. I've subscribed to a topic on occasion that seems to have resolved itself, only to find an added and irrelevant comment months later. I think that a week after the last comment is made the post should vaporize or move to an archived location so new comments are not possible.

People are subconsciously using "logic": Two ears - one mouth.....Listen more than you talk. Two eyes - ten fingers...........Type more than you read! heh heh :D
 
I sometimes forget I posted in a thread and never come back to it. In fact now that I think about it I never replied to the OP's shotgun question which was like a month ago. I must not have been on for a day or so and the tread moved to the back page and I just forgot

A 10-inch story in USA Today is about as long as most Americans can take at one time. Used to be that Americans were avid readers. Now they can barely write their name much less read.

Many, many, MANY of the "old posts" here contain excellent research material and information provided by some of the foremost experts on Smith & Wesson, and it would be a great loss to delete those posts. Have you ever spent time in the "Sticky" sections? All of them are old.......

Also, during a conversation (which is kinda what interweb forums are all about) do you ever agree with someone, or do you just remain silent thereby giving the impression that the person is correct? I gots no problem with a +1, and the occasional ^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^ for a response. It saves keystrokes. And, if you are familiar with the person posting adds credibility (or incredulity) to the previous post.

Actually, this is not hard to overcome. There are several tools to help you remember the threads you've posted in.

One method is to click on the User CP link up at the top. It will give you a list of threads you've participated in (subscribed to).

Also, in the thread list in each sub forum, there will be a little check mark on each thread you've posted to. So, if you've participated in a thread, you can readily see it in the thread list.

Then, in the User Control Panel, Edit Options, Messaging & Notifications section, you can set it to email you when someone responds to a thread you've participated in.

There are probably more, but I can't think of them right now.
 
But anyway, back to the original question. It's all about shot placement. Doesn't matter if you use a 9mm or .45. And stay away from CLP.
 
Oh noes - I jumped to the end.

I may or may not do so - or may skim some threads.

better is to get in on the ground floor - such as the Annoyed at Thread Drift thread - I got in early on that one - so I don't need to go back and read em all - I was there when it happened.

Some - like the joke and picture threads - I sometimes start at the end and work my way backwards if I have time.
