Strange/odd names for towns/places I'll start

Most of these are no longer Towns as they were in the old days. Still have signs but most buildings are long gone. They are classified as a Community with just a few residences. There are more but this is off the top of my head.

Here in Indiana, we got French Lick, Gnawbone and Beanblossom.

In Illinois, if you go North on US 45 from Mattoon, you'll hit Arcola, then Tuscola before you get to Champaign.

The old joke goes that a Chicagoan stops in Mattoon for gas and asks what the next towns are.

The attendant says first you'll hit Arcola and then about 10 miles later you'll get to Tuscola.

The Chicagoan says if you say the next town is Coca-Cola or Pepsi Cola, I'll KYA!!

The attendant said: "Nope, Champaign!!!"

I'm about 3 miles south of Climax MI and about 20 miles northeast of Colon MI. Radio station years ago held a contest in which 1st prize was an all expense paid trip to"Athens" [MI] from Kalamazoo.
